I invert and secure the housing and rewind the spring large coil to small (need eye protection, both hands and no women around work area!). I'm right handed so i tension the spring enough to insert it inside the previous coil while holding what has already been installed with my left about 180° from my right hand. The tension will hold the spring in the housing once completely inserted. Then bend slightly the inner most part to engage the starter spool. It will require about 2 turns of pretension to retract properly. If you're lucky you can pull the cord out enough for a pretension then slightly raise and add the withdrawn cord to the spool.
Both methods require about 2 turns of pretension to rewind the cord when pulled.

I had water in my hydraulic fluid in my Komatsu D39P dozer. I opened the drain plug, drained the resevoir and pumped as much of the contaiminated fluid as I could out through the filer port. I refilled the system through the resevoir and bled the cylinders through the line connections until clear hydraulic fluid was coming out.
The fluid is now clear, the reservoir is full but the machine will not push or engage the tracks properly. It acts like an air/vapor lock either in the transmission or torque converter. I was told this was a self bleeding system, but how do I get the air out? There are bleeders near one of the filters and I've tried that. I don't have a manual. Is there a sequence for bleeding this system?
