Honeywell fan limit control

I had a blower motor go bad. I replaced it with the same motor of a different brand. Now my blower runs constantly and my igniter will kick on and off before heating the house. What will cause this? How can I check to see if the fan/limit control is bad?

I found the problem. The new blower motor was not working correctly. I replaced the new motor and it is running fine now.

FIRST I WOULD MAKE SURE YOUR FAN IS NOT SET TO "ON"
IF YOUR FAN LIMIT IS ADJUSTABLE TRY DIFFERENT SETTINGS CONSTANT FAN IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD IT WILL KEEP THE TEMP IN YOUR HOUSE EVEN. AS FAR AS THE IGNITING IF YOU GET A FLAME AND IT CUT OUT A FEW SECONDS AFTER I WOULD CLEAN THE FLAME SENSOR.

I show voltage to the blower motor but it does not start when i press fan on the thermostat? Bad relays or bad blower motor?

Sounds like a bad motor. I don't know if your blower motor has an external starting capacitor and / or a running capacitor. If There is a starting capacitor and it's faulty , that would prevent the motor starting and turning.

Maybe there is a blockage in the air conditioning coil above the furnace? This happens when people have pets, or dont use filters. Single phase 120-240 volt motors won't run backwards if you reverse the wiring that's dc or three phase, you have to check the rotation of the wheel, the right rotation is usually marked on the blower case. Some motors will allow you to change the rotation but you have to check the wiring diagram. Also use new capacitors when they go bad the motor can run backward. God luck

You need to check the wiring to the limits and safety devices with are in a number of locations, make sure all connections are tight. The most common cause for the blower to run is the high limit device which is the one mounted above the burners on the flat metal panel with two wires.

Here's my best shot.
Check the temperature settings for the fan switch.
The low OFF setting should be about 100 degrees.
The ON setting should be around 150 degrees and this is the setting that "makes" the ON contacts.
The HIGH LIMIT setting should be about 180 degrees.
If these are set, can you use a meter to see if the FAN ON contacts are closed?
Lastly, it appears that one hot line should go to one side of the blower and the other hot line should go to the bottom FAN terminal with the other side of the blower being fed by wiring from the top FAN terminal.
Good Luck. Gary

BLOWER FAN WONT SHUT OFF WHEN THERMOSTATE IS OFF

The compressor coming on when the contact is pushed is o.k. they all do that. As for the blower fan not shutting off, some brands (Payne for example) the heating fan relay is a n.c. (normally closed ) relay. so if the time delay relay or thermal link are bad or not connected, the fan will blow even when it is turned off.
