If you or your family have been getting sick and there are no real outside signs from where the sickness is coming from, it is possible that you have mold in your air ducts. If you live in a humid climate you will have higher chances of having mold growing in the air ducts. To check you should call in a professional to make sure.

The cab in my 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 smells, does it, or does it not have a cabin air filter? I see conflicts all over the web, but major parts stores are willing to sell me one...

The smell is not from the cabin air filter, it is mold and mildew that is growing in the ducting and AC evaporator core, it needs to be treated with special chemicals to kill the mold and mildew, contact your local dealer or an AC repair center near you. Your vehicle shows that it DOES NOT have a cabin air filter.

Why am I getting a stale smell from ac

Often times in the summer, mold and mildew will grow in the ducts. You can try some sprays made for car ac systems, or other air fresheners. Make sure the drain is open to let the water out onto the ground. Also try running the ac on "fresh" instead of "max or recirc" much as possible.

2004 Mercury Mountaineer-Horrible smell coming from AC/Heat system....does not smell like coolant.......I have had chipmunks in the engine compartment. Is there an outside air inlet with a dead chipmunk?

This is not good. Your problem is worse than the Squirrels that put Walnuts in my A/C ducts and shorted my controls. The critters can chew holes in the plastic vent covers to gain access.

Your critters could have pooped and peeed in your Ductwork. This may be covered by your Comprehensive Insurance as it is a Health Hazard. Call your Agent, really, call your Agent.

I believe your Series of vehicle has an In-cabin Airfilter. This may help. Ford does carry products to Sterilize the A/C ducts which will help. Although the products were intended for Mold and things growing in the Ducts.

A dead Chipmunk is a possibility. So is a cooked animal on the motor. Good luck on this, about all you can do is change the Incabin filter and decontaminate. A Dealer can take apart the ductwork and get to th heart of the matter.

Is it any ac filter for 1999 suburban

There isnt a seperate filter for the a/c air that comes into the truck. There is a cabin air filter that filters incoming outside air, but that wont really help you especially if your using the recirculate option when your a/c is on.
That being said, I have encountered many customers complaining of a mildew smell when first turning on the air conditioning, and in some extreme cases, burning eyes and scratchy throats. The problem is mildew building up in the a/c ducts, which happens when the duct temp. fluctuates, ie, driving for an hour with the a/c on, then shutting off the truck for a couple of hours. I would recommend getting a can of Frigi-Fresh. Its an aerosol can, and you spray it into the fresh air intake. Thats located in the cowl, just below the windshield wipers. Have the truck running, a/c on high, recirculate off, and just spray it into the cowl. It kills all the mildew, mold and bacteria thats growing in the ductwork, and it smells nice. You can substitute Lysol instead, as its pretty much the same thing. Try that and see if that helps.

Mower has to be chocked to run

Oftentimes, this problem is the result of mowers left outside in ambient air that is high humidity. This, in turn, allows algae to grow inside the carb fuel float bowl and/or inside the fuel tank if left out for extended periods (one month or longer). Also the same thing will cause air filters to clog rapidly with mold and mildew - slowly at first, then more rapidly as the mold continues to grow. Get out the carb cleaner in spray cans and go through every ported passagewway in the carb body then reassemble using CLEAN screws, gaskets and all interrior parts. Any residue mold or mildew will continue to grow - and it can grow in gasoline!! Imagine that!!

A different smell coming from the heat ducts. I can't figure where the smell is coming from. I have Ruud achiever plus 90 furnace.

There can be several causes for odors in a unit. If you have just started turning the air on, you may have an issue with too much moisture in the coil and supply plenum causing mold to accumulate and grow. Also ducting can come apart or be chewed open by critters allowing air to be drawn in from the attic or crawl space depending on your configuration. These are the typical smells.
