The new magenta cartridge you put in is bad. If you put the old one back in then you get the low toner message. Take the new cartridge back and get another new one. I found the answer on the dell troubleshoot website

I tried this solution but wasn't quite sure how it's possible.
"Pull out the drum. Open the front door. Then close back this door then at the same time, move
the carousel around back or forth. The carousel now is able to be free to rotate. During rotating
you try to pull out the catridge. If it is locked, then adjust it to the position to be free."
Instead i pulled out the drum unit and pushed down with a bit of force on the toner carousel. I heard the gears grind which didn't sound real pleasant but the error went away. Instead I received an error message this time to remove and reseat the Cyan toner. Tried this multiple times w/o luck so i replaced the Cyan toner and it freed it up. Now I'm getting a paper jam message but there is no jam. Stuck again but making progress...

the Dell 1235CN is from the same category of CD laser printer from Dell ..and the ink cartridges will fit ...cause they have some standards ..by the tip ...ink-jet, laser...etc..but those 2 printers are in the same category ..being both CN and laser based...it will be a little slower but the price is just under 300 what make it a good choice facing the 800 that you should have payed for to end up with a refurbished one ..

"Here is what I did to reset the Dell 3115cn Laser Printer. In the users manual for the 3115cn in section 6 "Changing System Settings" "Resetting Defaults" refers to page 64 where it says, " For more information, see "Reset Defaults" in the User's Guide. Only I did not get a User Guide with my Dell. So I Googled "3115cn user guide" and downloaded it to my desktop and then went to Resetting Defaults. In the attachment "Initializing NVRAM for Network Settings" is what I did. Hope this helps someone else."
