Question about InFocus ScreenPlay 5000 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Hello I have the infocus screenplay 5000 projector & after reading all the posts here decided I dont have a similar problem to anyone else. My bulb life expiration came up months ago but the unit works great, however it started turning off during use. I accredited this to lamp life being over, I replaced the lamp & the unit still randomly turns off. My power supply is fine & I have a small fan that blows into the unit to keep it cool; I'm stumped, The unit itself stays on, the picture shorts out, & if I re-start the projector the picture comes back on for 15-1hr just depends, then shorts out. I've had this unit for 5+ years no complaints except this, can anyone help?

Working with expired lamp can cause the overheat, and the power supply will be damadged, you need to replace the chemical caps at secondary parts as shown in the picture below:

SOURCE: new lamp, no power!

if there are no leds lit, i'm surprised that it powers up. but if there is no light when the fans are running, it may be the ballast that needs replacing.

Infocus 5000 won't recognize my computer

How about a little more information?
Does the projector turn on?
has it ever worked?
What type of interface (VGA, DVI, HDMI, RCA)
What type of computer (notebook or desktop)

That being said, double check your cable connections and make sure you tell your computer to look for the projector (Dell laptops used to use FN+F8 to switch from laptop to projector). Windows 7 has a menu choice "Connect to Projector". Mac computers - check system preferences and make sure the projector is ON before you plug it into the Mac.

I detached and re-attached the cable to my infocus screenplay 5000 projector and now the picture is all red. The sync said that it is in green synch. I don't know what that means.

it could be your cable. try a new one. it could also be a lcd cable. if you can, make sure the cables are completely inserted into the main board.

I have a screenplay 5000 the projector comes on but shows no picture, also it makes noises coming from the front left side

if you are behind the projector and it is facing away from you then it could be the lamp blower under the power supply which would be on the right side rear, or one of the 2 fans on the right side. now if you are facing the projector the fan on the right would be the lcd blower fan. you need to make sure your lamp is even lit and then post your problem. this can be done by looking into the lens from the side. a more accurate description of the problem can better help me.

My infocus 5000 projector is not putting out yellow color is it the bulb or projector?

Your bulb provides the light, the projector provides the image so it would be your projector.

I have a Infocus Screen Play 5000 bulb has 324 hours the picture is light green.

try reflashing the firmware, check your cables by wiggling the ends coming out of the projector and watch the picture for any changes, if it goes to normal at any time, your cables are just worn out. if that doesn't do the trick, maybe your lcd polarizers are burnt, i really need a better description of the picture.
