Will the slides for projector Model 981Q play on a newer projector

Well, I don't actually know what a 981Q is, but slides are slides. Unless they're "large format", all 35mm film slides are 2 inches square, and all regular slide projectors will work with them.

Kodak 140 slide carousel trays jam

The 140 tray with older slides and an older projector is a gamble with slide jams every time!! Slides have a natural curve that gets bigger over time. In addition, as slides age, the corners will begin to de-laminate (aka: "dog-eared" slide). Because the slide slot in a 140-tray is SO NARROW, the least little deformation of the slide from normal will cause the slides not to drop. My recommendation, given the age of the projector, trays and slides, is to get rid of those 140 trays and stick with 80-slide trays. Good Luck !! Jim

Slides jam in the projector

Chances are if you move your slides into an 80 slide tray your slide jamming will go away. Slides warp and bow due to the affects of humidity on the paper mount and the transparency itself when they are stored. The compartment dimensions in a 140-slide tray do not allow for ANY slide warpage, When the slide warps, it hangs up in the tray (or hits the bottom of the tray ejecting) and the projector will jam. I hope this helps. Good luck !!

When the projector was turned on it started to cycle as when ejecting slides then it stopped and seems to be jammed...the rectangle black screen that opens and closes during the cycle to view slides is...

First of all, remove the tray (use the emergency tray removal in the center hub of the projector). BE CAREFUL not to spill your slides, so before you remove the tray, make sure the tray ring is in position & tight, then when you remove the tray turn it upside down immediately and move the tray plate to the "zero" position. Remove any slides that might be in the gate of the projector. Turn the projector on and cycle the projector 2 or 3 times in Reverse. This should clear a tray/slide jam. Good Luck !!

Model 760 H projector-- Carrousel advances, but slides do not

My guess is that your slides are in a 140-slide tray.
Over time, with repeated cycles of humidity & drying, slides warp slightly. The compartment width in a 140-slide tray is quite narrow, and it takes very little warping to make slides stick in their individual compartments. If you move the slides to a KODAK 80 Slide Tray you should be in much better shape.

Kodak 410 Projector/Viewer - no lite through projector or viewer

These projectors were designed & made by Telex for Kodak.
If the screen stays black when you push a slide down into the "gate" (in either viewer or projector mode), then the trip mechanism that opens the shutters when a slide is detected has a problem. It could be an adjustment, a broken or out of position spring or hardened lubrication.
There is no good way to proceed unless you are trained in the service of these projectors. Contact a factory-trained repair dealer. Happy New Year!

Trying to find a carousel that will fit Navitar model CP-300AF

I am pretty sure that the projectors modified, marketed & sold by Navitar were Kodak projector bodies & slide transports. Assuming this is the case, a Kodak 80 Tray should work just fine!
