Question about JVC GY-HD100E Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Open Question

Serious problem during recording process. "Black holes"

I own a GY-HD100E, and i'm having serious problems in the recording process.

Most of the tapes have what i call "black holes" in the midle of recorded footage. For example:

scene 1, ok
scene 2, ok
scene 3: the screen turns blue, and appears: "changing format"
scene 4, ok

I didn't change formats, has the camera seems to claim, once the same format was used in the all tape.

Also the problems seems to hapen when the camera turned off, and then connected again to record. It doesn't cut pieces of a scene. It disapears the all scene...

Sometimes in the "black holes", the first frame of the scene appears, and stands still in the screen, with the timecode running. This tells me that probably something is recorded, but the camera can+t read it.

This happened in HDV 25p, and HDV SD50p

This happen in several places, several situations, with several brand tapes.

I already contacted some GY-HD100E users, but none seems to recognize this problem.

During recording the image is OK in the monitor and in LCD. No message is show, and you only notice when you playback the scene in VTR mode

thank you.

SOURCE: unable to

Okay, so if you want to do real-time capture, you need to setup a playlist of clips on the camera. when you go to play the playlist, do NOT press the center button in, push it to the right. Then it will start doing what you want.

The gy-hm100 can record to sdhc media up to 32gb in each slot (total 64gb). For best performance you must use class 10 sd cards. Your camera may need updated firmware that enables class 10 support so check the JVC Pro website and follow the firmware instructions if you haven't done so already. Also, make sure your card is formatted and unlocked with plenty free space. 4 gb is not much at all and a card that size may not be of sufficient speed to operate correctly in the gy-hm100.

Viewing SONY 8mm Tapes -- Please help

The older tapes were shot on a 8mm camcorder and the camcorder you have wil not play them becasue it doesn't have backwards compatability with the older format. The tapes you recorded are on a digital 8 camcorderr and it is different encoding than the one you recorded the other 60 tapes with. You will need to find either a dcr-trv 350 trv 530 trv 730 ect as these have the ability to play all the tapes.
Or find an older 8mm camcorder to play your tapes with.
Hope this helps

No display on playback

Try first a Tape cleaner and a new cassette and start from scratch... and check if your camera is not damaged internally and it is actually recording and not just spining the tape to the end and rewind to find nothing on it. You seem to need serious repair. This means it needs a tech to have a serious look at it.
