Shorten the length of a Kenneth Cole "New York" watch band

With the watch on your wrist, check to see how many links need to be removed from your watch. Your watch should fit comfortably on your wrist. Remove the extra links with your paper clip or push pin.To remove the links from your watch, press on the small pins with your tool that are holding the links in place. The watch band should now separate allowing the pin to become free, and you can now remove the pins first and then the links one at a time until you have removed the desired amount of links. Reattach the watch band when you are done removing the links. To reattach the watch band to your watch, simply fit the end links into each other. To complete the resizing, use your push pin to re-insert a joining pin.

Shorten the band on a Mossimo watch

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
  • Place the watch face down on the cloth. This will help keep your watch from being scratched.

  • 2

Examine the links closest to the buckle. These links will have small pin holes on each side of the link, as well as a small arrow engraved on the inner side of the band. These indicate the direction the pins must be removed.

  • 3

Place the driving tool (a thumbtack will work) inside the pin hole in the band and push the pin out in the direction of the arrow. Remove the pin carefully from the other side.

  • 4

Repeat Step 3 to remove any links needed to adjust the band properly.

  • 5

Reattach the band to the buckle. Attach each end of the buckle back to the bracelet, driving the pin in the opposite direction from how it was removed (opposite the arrow).

  • Best regards. Jewel

Replacing watch band on pathfinder pas410. can't get pins out to replace band.

Watchmakers use special tool to release spring bars, but it is possible to release them in home conditions. Place your watch on flat surface face down. Using pocket knife insert the blade between band and the watch lug where the spring bar (pin) end is and using lever action push spring bar end inwards. This should release the band from the watch. If all this does not work, then your watch band is attached with friction fitted pins and you will need watchmakers help, as without special pin removing tool it is not possible to remove friction fitted pins.

    Rate me, plz.

    How to remove links?

Assuming this is NOT an expansion band, there are generally two different types of links: one is a straight pin or cotter pin, the other is an "L" shaped pin. Look at the side of the band. If there is a small round hole it's either a pin or cotter pin. On the inside of the band, there is quite often an arrow that indicates the direction you need to pump the pin to remove it. I have several different tools for removing pins, but you don't need to use a special tool if you're patient and careful. You can use a stiff wire and gently hammer on the end of the pin to push it out. You will need an open area above the head of the pin so it has someplace to go when it clears the band. With the head of the pin sticking out, grip with a pair of pliers and pull. Same process with a cotter pin. Installation is the reverse of removal only you are travelling against the arrow. Once you have the pin almost all of the way in, I pick up the watch and press the head of the pin against the corner of my workbench to push it in the rest of the way. For the "L" shaped pins, they are trickier. I made a special tool for that, but you aren't going to want to do that. If you have an awl, you can brace the edge of the band against a soft metal such as aluminum so it won't scratch. On the inside of the band, you will find the arrows showing the direction you need to go to remove the pin. Youwill also see a small hole along the outer edge of the band. Put the tip of the awl at a low angle against a protrusion that you can see in the hole. Gently tap the awl in the direction of the arrow. When youcan see enough of the pin sticking out the side of the band, you can grip it with a pair of pliers and pull it out the rest of the way. Installation is the reverse of removal. Again, use something to push the head of the pin against.

Want to fit a watch band. take links out.

You need a link tool. You can purchase this item on Ebay or watch parts sites. Some have a little track that you put the band on and screw a pin into the pin on the band and it pushes the split pin out and you remove the link. Pay attention to the pins on the band. You need to push out the side with the split pin that looks like a flathead screw. It sometimes is. In most cases it is a pin. When the link is removed you have to connect to the next link and push the pin into the hole again and it shoul go in the direction of the other pins. The pin should go in on the side with the split looking pins. You will need special tools: pin pusher device, a pin block and hammer with pins to hammer out the pins on the band usually. Some or most folks take classes to learn this but you may be handy and figure it out.

Where can i get a replacement watch band for my shark x freestyle watch? thanks.

Here is the link to their customer service page:
    http://www.freestyleusa.com/contact.php

Call the Warranty/Parts and Repairs number on the left and they should be able to send you a new band to take to a jeweler to replace, or you can send it to them and they will fix it for you (with 4-6 week turnaround, however).  I got a 75003 watchband replaced, but I imagine you can get every band replaced.

How to change a watch band for shark freestyle model 788

Jim, you still need to remove the pins that the band is being held on with. You can use a small jewelers screwdriver to push them in.
However, I am having a tough time getting my new band on!

    Watch band

I just got this watch for a gift and was able to remove links myself after doing some research. It really isn't difficult if you are patient, have a little mechanical experience, and have some very basic "tools" available.

    Tools:
1 push pin like you use on bulletin boards with a plastic head
1 small hammer like a tack hammer
1 pair of small pliers. Needle nose pliers would be best but I used diagonal wire cutters (be careful not to cut the link pin)
    1 small block of wood

Try to pick a well lit table in a room where you will not be interrupted.

    Procedure:
    1. Lay the watch and band sideways on the block of wood so that a pin for the link you would like to remove is just hanging over the edge of the block and pointing down. You need the block to brace the band while you hammer lightly on the pin. Someone to hold the watch in that position would be helpful, but it can be done alone. Only try to remove pins that have an arrow on the back of the band pointing at them. It does not matter with this watch band which way you go with the pin.
    2. Carefully line up the push pin point with the top of the pin.
    3. Slowly, lightly and carefully hammer the plastic side of the push pin so that the pin in the link just emerges from the band on the bottom side enough so that you can grab it with the small pliers.
    4. Slowly and carefully pull the pin straight out with the pliers. You can pick up the watch from the block of wood to get a better grip. Be careful not to bend the pin since you will need to replace at least one of the pins you remove.
    5. Repeat steps 1 - 4 until the band is the correct length. I needed to take out 3 so I removed 2 from one side and 1 from the other side of the clasp.
    6. To fasten the watch back together again, gently insert the pin back in the hole it came from it. You will probably need to use the tack hammer to make the top of the pin flush with the band.
