How do you get it to click/stay in the upright position? I just used it and I can't get it to stay in the upright position for storage...Thanks in advance for you help.

The Dyson manuals for pretty much all of the uprights don't show any particular 'click' to full upright: they just tell you to put a foot on the bottom part of the unit and pull backward to put it into vacuum mode. There is some sort of sensor or mechanical engagement in there, since putting the system to full-upright is how you switch it from floor mode to attachment mode (coming of of the handle).

A couple of things to try - follow your manual (PDF Can be seen here Dyson DC28 Animal User Guide ) to try removing and then re-seating the hose assembly into the base of the unit (the bottom connector). I've seen other guidance to that being necessary to have the floor-to-hose switch-over work properly, which might, in turn, be the root of your problem. Likewise, with the unit turned on, see if it will switch to attachment mode (air being sucked through the top of the handle) if you push the back as far forward as you can. If it won't switch, that also points to seating of the tubing assembly not being right.

Good Luck :-)

How to wire switch on oreck xl

Depends on if you have a two speed switch or single speed. Most commercial Orecks come with the single speed but some people get them upgraded to the two speed. If you have the single speed, the black wire coming from the power cord and the black wire coming from the handle cord will be attached to the switch. The two white wires will be tied together with a wire nut no matter which type of switch you have. It will not matter which connectors you attach the black wires to, on the single speed. If you have the two speed, you will have three connectors on the switch and you will only use two of them. If you look at them as a triangle, the point of the triangle where the single connector is located will point towards the floor when the vacuum is in the upright position. You will connect one black wire to this connector and the other on will be connected to the one that is closest to you when you have the handle opened up. If you use the bottom one you will only have high speed, so if you accidently get them reversed, all you need to do is change positions of the other upper wire. Hope this helps.

You may have a small leak in the hose somewhere, that may be getting bigger, thus losing more suction.

Dyson upright vacuum cleaner makes horrendous noise

It might be a simple as changing the clutch belt and the drive belt and cleaning out the brush roll. You can get replacement belts here:

My purple proggesive kenmore upright motor works but beater not beating help thank you

I just had the same problem - reset button didn't trip - cleaned the roller - ultimately found there is an override switch at the point where the hose attaches to the base of the vacuum - it disables the roller when you use the attachments. The hose had become loose (but not disconnected) enough to trip the switch. An easy fix after alot of tinkering... p.s. All those "experts" that said to change a belt obviously don't understand that this model is beltless...

Kirby turns on with hose attachement but not with head attachment

Front of the unit, black switch that is pressed by this plastic protrusion from hose coupling has two parts. It is because ANY generation Kirby has speeds - HIGH for vacuuming with hose and LOW for using it with nozzle.
Looks like the switch went bad (Switch HERE)

We have instructions for replacing it too.
The "funny noise" with hose throws me off a bit though. Check if there is nothing in the hose (put a nickle through it).

Good Luck

Suction only through attachment, but not without attachments

have you removed the bottom if you were going to change the belt....look for where the intake hose is under or near the roller brush...most likely that is where your clog is.
