Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

Eureka Smart Vac Bagged Pet Lover model: the roller stops when vacuuming carpet. I have installed a new belt. I have the vac on the highest carpet setting and it still stops the roller brush upon contact with the carpet. My carpet is also short napped. I installed a new belt when this problem developed and the new belt has made no difference. The roller will spin if I angle the machine up and off the carpet completely. What is wrong?

SOURCE: Eureka Smart Vac Brush not rotating when touching floor

Sounds like either the belt wasn't routed correctly or the idler clamp asm.(part # 704194CSV) has a problem. There should be a diagram showing the belt placement either by the belt or on the inside of the cover.

SOURCE: Brush roller on Hoover upright stops turning

There should be a belt tensioner for the V belt, maybe it is not contacting the belt when you tilt the handle back. If this is less then 1 year old, then it is under warranty, take it in to a warranty servicer for warranty repair.

Change the belt on the unit, and adjust the height adjustment until the brushes are just touching the carpet. I know you mentioned the belt looks good, but when you get the new EXT-U belt, you will notice a size difference. Good luck!

Eureka burning smell

Hi, it's Cindy from Crucial Vacuum.

Since you have replaced your Eureka 4870MZ 9200 Proheat 2x vacuum's belt, the issue may either be caused by your roller or the position of your belt. It sounds like as soon as your vacuum is lowered, the belt is either slipping or wear on the end caps is causing your roller to stop. This will cause the burning smell since your motor is now straining against the abrupt stop. Try taking off your roller and checking the conditions of the end cap or try to reinstall your belt. I have included an instructional video: http://youtu.be/rji0fl9hytY

On our eureka world vac 9834 we cannot figure out how to remove the roller so we can put a new belt on

On this particular model the TOP cover is removed. There are 2 phillip screws near the roller and 2 tabs near the back wheels (push in with a flat screwdriver while pulling apart). Pull the hose through cover for easy cleaning. Everything I watched or read were for other models, where the bottom cover was removed :-(

The roller is not turning after i caught up a frayed carpet string.

This could be because of 2 things on this model.

1) the model MAY have a white reset button on the side of the unit that the hose does not go into. Sometimes to prevent a toothed belt from damaging the motor.

2) the belt may need to be changed on the unit usually noticed with a burning rubber smell when you caught something. this just requires a belt change.

Either go directly to the Eureka internet site, or GOOGLE "eureka boss smart pet lover manual". Several options should be displayed to download the needed manual.

Eureka 4870: Brush roller turns even in hose setting.

You either have the wrong size belt, most likely too small, or you have installed a new belt incorrectly. When you open the cover on the bottom of your vac, you will see the pulley that moves as you flip the switch from floors to carpet. The belt does not go around this pulley. When activated(carpet) the pulley puts tension on the belt causing it to turn the roller. When switched back to hard floors, the belt looses tension allowing motor to cause suction but disabling roller. Also, the dial on top of vac is only to direct suction, not for disabling roller

Eureka The Boss Smart Vac, beater bar stops turning when you use it on carpet

It is a simple fix that you need. Your belt needs to be replaced. After a period of time, the belt stretches to the point where it is still strong enough to spin the brush when you have the machine upside down to look at it, but when you put the machine down on the carpet the belt is too weak to turn the brush against the resistance of the carpet.

Most Eureka belt changes are simple to do and the belts are inexpensive.
