Turn the tv on picture come on all red and fuzzy and then couple seconds later tv turns off and then turns back on with no picture just red screen then turns off and wont turn back on for ten min

It indicates a short at the Red picture tube--set has three picture tubes and each has a socket which processes signal to each tube--each has a single IC chip---in your case either the chip on the red board or the red tube.

If a bright red screen the set will detect something is pulling way too much current and shut the set down for protection---called a shutdown circuit.......

Turns on for a few seconds, turns green then shuts off.

Sounds like you have a problem with the green crt. That is the one I've most commonly seen fail first. Your tv has three picture tubes in it that can be accessed from the front of the set. The picture tubes(crts) have a filament inside the neck like a light bulb has a filament. Over a period of time tiny particles burn off and the debris can cause a short circuit from one piece of the filament to the other. The tubes are no longer avail. as a new replacement part but the tubes in your set can possibly be saved. One trick is to lightly tap on the neck of the tube with an insulated post or screwdriver handle. Right when you turn the set on and it goes green sometimes you can lightly tap on it, (the middle tube) and knock the debris free removing the short. If that doesn't work the tubes can be rejuvinated/cleaned using a machine found in most repair shops known as a picture tube rejuvinator. My experience is that this procedure should cost 100.-200. plus service call. Most service people will tell you that this is not a guaranteed fix, but 90% of the time it works and you can get years of more use from the tv. Good luck, Russmann.

Turn on pic turns red with thin bright red horizontal lines

Sorry to say, but that's usually the sign of a bad picture tube. One of the elements inside the tube shorts and you see the picture you describe, and the set shuts down due to high voltages getting to places it shouldn't. There's no solution except picture tube replacement, and that is uneconomical. You're better off replacing the TV when the tube goes bad.

No picture at all, sound ok 3 tube crts off after 4secs when on

might be a crooked flyback transformer, first check for shorted transistors around the transformer and components at the horizontal output stage..

Green s

check for bad solders on the crt socket . If it turns off again try running the tv with the crt socket off the tube but 1st try to time how it takes for the tv to turn off then disconnect the crt socket. If it does not turn off the tube may be bad, if it does not turn off check the voltages at the crt socket and see if all the voltages at the colour outputs are close to the same, if so then you have a bad tube when you connect the tube and the voltages change conciderably the tube is gone

How to replace a tube holder or ballast

You can replace a ballast or tube holder if you're fairly familiar with wiring. 1) Turn off the power to the circuit. 2) Remove the tube and the cover plate that conceals the workings. 3) Disconnect or cut the wires to the tube holder or ballast and remove. 4) Strip 1/2" of insulation from the ends of the wires. 5) Mount the component and connect the wires with wire nuts. 6) Replace the cover and tube. 7) Turn the circuit back on. 8) Turn the switch on.

How to replace a fluorescent starter

Although newer fluorescent fixtures have built-in starters or no starters at all, most older lights have an easy-to-change, visible starter. It is a small, silvery cylinder that plugs into one of the tube holders. 1) Shut off the switch. 2) Remove the tube. 3) Give the starter a quarter-turn in a clockwise direction, and pull it out. 4) Plug in new starter, giving it a quarter turn counterclockwise. 5) Replace tube. 6) Turn the switch on.
