Does the laser on a stud finder blink when you found a stud ?
Normally they will start to beep or glow and get higher or brighter as it passes the center of the stud then get lessor when passing off it..then move it back until it stops again..find the middle it will be the center of the stud...some may just beep until it passes off the stud..just do the same when it stops go back until it stops again..then find the center..good luck

Hello. The instructions can vary from model to model, but most have a green indicator light that lights up when the unit detects a stud.
