Question about Toshiba 43H70 43" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

43H70 43 in. Rear Projection Television

I received this set from a friend. He said that it started acting up several months ago. The picture would go out, and he would have to unplug the set for a few minutes, then plug it back in. Eventually it wouldn't come back on at all. I've read several posts about changing the convergence chips, but most of those posters state that the power light blinks slow. I plugged this one in and turned it on for 4 or 5 minutes, and no blinking. By buddy said that he still had sound, but no picture. When I do power it on, I can hear what sounds like a normal TV powering up, and I also hear the speakers power on. Suggestions? Thanks.

OK, the set is on if get the menu display and you have sound--either a video circuit problem or a glitch.

Do you get picture via the rear audio and video input jacks? this will rule some things out.

Also if not tried disconnect set, any box used, or a receiver from power for several minutes and power back (possible glitch).

Hi, check for any speaker switches around rear of set that may have been accidentally switched. Could potentially have a "hotel lock mode"
which some philips sets automatically entered after a set time (namely months) which limited volume settings. Your friendly local service technician may be able to help you out with that one
