SOURCE: After loading from both recovery disks, installation stops

Shouldn't take two hours, but if it does? I would just start the installation and walk away and check back every half hour or so just to see if input from you is required to continue, but if not just walk away for a while again and the installation disk should do it's job.

SOURCE: Hard Drive Error during system recovery

You need to run a hard drive diagnostic disk in dos,(before windows starts) First check with HP, You can also use a program called HDD Regenerator 1.51. This will check the drive for bad sectors, and then you can try and repair them. This way you might
be able to see some of the data you want. If the sectors that where
repaired had the operating system on them, you should just get a new drive,(if not under warranty) then after you have a new OS installed on the new drive, you can plug in the old drive and see what you can recover.

SOURCE: Reformated used HP recovery disc when I restart it says SW build ID different from ID on recovery media

You have 2 options. You can write to Microsoft or to HP about your Issue & they might be able to help about the ID issue. Best I would suggest you buy the OS. ( Full installation Pack) this way you have nothing to worry.

MY BUFFALO EXTERNAL HARD DISK HD PXTU2 IS SHOWING 297 GB UNALLOCATED. I THINK ITS PARTITION IS CORUPPTED

Hi guy,
You can try a partition recovery software to recover your corruptted partition.I have succeed to recover deleted partition with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover deleted, formatted, corruptted partition after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data.
Anyway, you can download a trial version and scan your hard drive for free to check out whether your partition can be recovered. http://www.any-data-recovery.com/index.htm

I need a recovery disk for gateway nx860s, do you know where i can find a free download?

The recovery software for the Gateway NX860s is stored on the hard drive itself. As long as you have the original hard disk drive and have not repartition the drive the information is probably still there.

You can create recovery CD's by doing the following.
  • Click Start->Run
  • Type the following, including the quotation marks on the run line: "C:\WINDOWS\CREATOR\CD Creator.exe" /drv
  • Click 'Burn ISO'
  • click 'Start Creation'
  • Select either CD or DVD depending on which type of media you are writing to and click 'OK'
  • The application will copy the files to your disk, when it's complete click 'OK'
If you are not able to run the recovery application but believe that the recovery files are still on the hard disk drive then you will need to run a recovery on the system being rebooting and pressing F11 when prompted to start a system recovery. The actual recovery will restore you access to the files to later create a back up cdrom.
