AMW LCD Monitor Display Model A913B

AMW LCD monitor model A913B not working. First the display disappeared, but the power button LED was lit. Now even that has ceased to work. Can the case be opened without special tools? I see mating surface around edge with two slots for prying back off? Are the front and back glued together, or do they have plastic tab connectors? If I can disassemble, is there a good prospect for simple repair or part replacement? Thanks for any help.

Try separating the wiring. Touching wires can cause cross-talk of signals. Separating wires stopped my "shadows" on my screen.

SOURCE: IC Power 19'' LCD-Will not Power Up- No Lites.

This is a follow up to my last submission about my discovery of bad caps on the FPD1960 LCD flat screen Gateway 19" computer monitor. To recap: After two and a half years of excellent graphics quality, my monitor suddenly went blackout. After pushing the power-on button, the screen would come on for 1-second, then go black. Repeat, again and again, same result; comes on for 1 second then blackout. THE REPAIR: After carefully but forcefully prying open the case, I unscrewed and unplugged then removed the screen and set it aside, then unscrewed and removed the power supply board. Sure as shootin, bulging (and slightly leaking) capacitors were immdiately apparant on this board. That other fella's submission was right on target. Search Wikipedia for "bulging capacitors" to get the inside scoop on this widespread problem. Major manufacturers are well aware of this issue, but fortunately for them it occurs some 2-years out'a the box, and after the warranty expires. This is one time I wish I'd bought the extended warranty! Anyway, I finally got my 5 caps from Ebay in the mail today. Specifically, they are 470uF 25volt 105-degree (use only 105's because some are right near a power transister heat sink---so I'll bet they get mighty friggin hot. After carefully replacing the old caps with the new (you'll need a solder ****** along with your solder iron), I reassembled, powered-up, and began to thoroughly enjoy the fruits of my labor. It's working like new once again. THE CAPS ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD ARE DEFECTIVE.

The plastic case also has latches along the sides, top and bottom. Take a small flat blade screwdriver and go between the 2 halves of the case. The 2 pieces should open just a bit, now move the screwdrivers along the seam between the 2 halves. about every 2-4 inches there is a clip that needs to be released. You can release it by applying a small amount of pressure by each clip and moving down to the next one while pulling the case apart.

No display

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

HP w22 Monitor display disappears after about 2

bill, if monitor not covered by warranty, the check out YOUTUBE for long 8-12 minute video clips of LCD monitor disassembly or LCD monitor repair to find out what the major cause of your monitors SYMPTOM that you described above. Here is a small hint for you. If you didn't see the displayed data on the BLACK lcd panel with the flashlight "trick" then you would know that the entire "switch-mode-power-supply" was in complete SHUTDOWN mode or even blown the "line-in fuse" for the monitor. Also try a visit to www. ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and view some of their vids on repair of lcd SMPS/INVERTER supplys and cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp replacement. They also do the repairs and return shipping. Please rate this on fixya if this response was helpful. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

Monitor : no display and blue led light is blinking

The power supply is the first thing that the 110v electric line goes into. The invertor is the next item past the power supply, or sometimes contained within it. I do not thing monitors are a DIY repair.      First substitute a different monitor to confirm that it is, in deed , the monitor and not the video card.

Same Monitor, same problem. Solution: I changed the colors setting to 16 bit from 32 bit, and that cleared the problem. I then changed back to 32 bit and it still worked. How long, not known yet. So , go to display settings, find COLORS: and then change to 16 bit.

I had a similar problem with the same model; the cable connection into my computer was not good. Try fiddling or replacing the cable.
