Question about Sunbeam Gcsbcs-105 Iron, Turbo Steam Master Professional

Open Question

My sunbeam turbo steam master iron won't steam.

I've cleaned it and decalcified it. Once in a while I hear the steam feature click on, but it doesn't last long. I have to iron everything using the shot of steam. The switches seem to be working fine. I haven't had it very long.

SOURCE: 4268 iron leaving residue

This will probably just need de-scaling. Buy some descaler and there should be instructions on the packet of how to de-scale an iron. Usually by warming the iron slightly, switching off, emptying out the water and then adding the diluted de-scaler to the iron and leaving it in an almost horizontal but raised position in a bowl or something so that some of the de-scaler will drain through. Then emptying out, re-filling with water and then iron something that you don't mind getting marked while any residue get's flushed out.

How to clean inside of iron

Please don't take Landsend advice, as it contadicts this whole "fixya" site! Let's keep it going by not giving in to this throw away world! Some people can't afford a $20 iron @ Wally's!
All the solutions above (besides Landsend) are on it!! Your City water is still too, hard for these delicate, devices. Filtered, as Alan Serna mentioned, is the way to go!! Dump your water out of your iron, when not using-maintenance is key, for everything, even your families!! : ) Have a G8 day!

How do you run clean cycle - I have lost the manual

Self-Cleaning and Maintaining Sole Plate

Use the self-cleaning feature once a month by moving the steam lever back and forth from the "dry" setting several times. This will remove any residue from the steam valve and ensure that the steam system works properly.

Wipe the sole plate with a soft, damp cloth while the iron is cool and unplugged.

Run the iron over a cotton cloth several times to remove any residue from the sole plate.

Cleaning Anti-Calcium Feature

Fill the water cup that came with your iron. Use enough water to reach the Sunbeam logo in the top corner of the cup.

Add a teaspoon of salt to the cup and stir.

Empty the salt solution into the water reservoir in your iron.

Allow the iron to stand for 15 minutes, then empty out the water reservoir.Repeat this cycle with a second cupful of salt water.

Rinse out the reservoir with clean water. You should perform this cleaning once a month.
