Which side is the cb and which side is the radio on a 2007 Columbia

make sure you have several 2a fuses with you then hook your red wire to the white wire in your truck then try to make the other one spark by flicking the two together. this is the poor mans way.the proper way way is to have a decent volt meter to check each wire then hook your wires up accordingly. the other is to buy a cigarette light plug and use that. the only dissadvantage is it may pick up a lot of engine noise. If you are not going to be the sole driver of this truck I would go with the cigarette lighter. If you are the owner operator than it would be best to have a cb shop install a plug in for you then you will have no worries, and thats what you want.

Midland 75 785 noise problem

change channels maybe it will go away. How is you power hooked up? does it go to the fuse box ,cigarette lighter or directly to the battery? Try hooking the power up differently .If that doesn't work try asking a friend to hook it up in their vehicle to see if it still does it. once you find the problem then install it. Could the nb/anl switch be in the off position ? Good luck.

How to hook a cb up to a 2000 isuzu rodeo

CB to vehicle--two choices--lighter plug with adapter but that way you will likely pick up noise from the electrical system.

Go directly to the battery, leads as short as possible and if possible get a noise filter in line right at the battery.

I just got my first cb and am trying to install it. I have connected the red wire in the fuse box( to the radio) and grounded the black wire. turned the car on and I cannot get any power to the CB, but the...

Take a deep breath and start over! The best way to power this little radio is probably through the cigarette lighter or 12vdc accessory jack. It is simple and straight forward and no fuse box or negative ground wires to worry about. Go the Radio Shack, purchase an adaptor (cig lighter type) and hook it up to your radio wiring being careful to watch polarity. You may have to have your ignition on to run the radio, but that is much safer that maybe blowing up the unit.

Unless you are running a larger more powerful unit or an amp, there is no added benefit to hooking the radio into the fuse box.

Have cobra 29 nw ltd keeps blowing fuses inline and in cigarette lighter adapter adapter is 10 amps and inline is no more than 5 amps

This is an easy fix if you are comfortable soldering.

You must have hooked it up backwards. Big problem when using a cigarette lighter adapter. You have to be careful, if you hook a radio up backwards you blow the polarity protection diode.

  • Go to radio shack and buy an N1004 diode.
  • Open the radio
  • Look towards the back right of the radio for a black diode D23. it will probably look burnt, but not always.
  • Use a soldering wick to remove the solder holding the diode in.
  • Remove it, and replace the diode making sure its going in the same direction as the old on. Strip on the side the triangle is pointing.
  • Solder it in.
  • Test the radio
That should do it.

Make sure you are careful to hook the radio up to power corrctly.

Cb radio doesn't give out any sound

You would be surprised how little people actually talk on CB radios these days. I went through similar struggles a few years ago. Unless you are in a major trucker area, the CB radio is basically silence.
Check out the weather channels (anything on the WX setting) to make sure that your radio is receiving frequencies correctly. If that doesn't work, then it is your box, but I bet that will work.
Good luck!

I can only get the weather channel but the cb side dosen't work what do you think it can be?

You don't give me much to work with. Is the weather selector switch in the CB position? Do you have an antenna hooked up? Have you checked the SWR on the antenna? What power reading do you get when you key the mike?

Please give me some feed back.

NO sound

Make sure the switch is in the CB position. If this is so, then you may have a bad switching transistor or a bad diode in the board. Also on some of the weather band cobras I have worked on in the past, I have found bad pll chips. Good Luck
