I have the same tv. On your remote push menu, then go to settings, and then screen. Put the auto wide to on. And keep the picture mode on normal, not the zoom or wide zoom. If its in HD it will fit the screen. If its not in HD it will crop the sides. This worked for me, hope it works out.
To change inputs on the TV, 90% of the time, it is done on the TV's remote control. Look for a marked button; 'video' or input. Press button to desired input. Other TV's have device/input buttons and will display on the TV's screen, scroll up or down, using the arrow buttons, once on desired input press the 'enter button.

Menu- Setup- V. Position + (from either the front panel or remote) until more of the lower picture is visible. If the picture size is entirely too big, you'll need to change your aspect style. This model will only allow you to change the aspect style if it is not in 1080i mode. However, most newer HD converter boxes allow this feature. I would check the converter manual.
Information as to the type of signal input is needed to resolve this problem. Does it appear in
zoom mode when playing a dvd, or just in catv mode? Some times an HD cable box must be reset to
