I have problems with the dishes not coming out clean and having sandy gritty stuff on the dishes especially on the top shelf. I use cascade dishwashing liquid, rinse aid, and I clean periodically with vinegar. I've even tried citric acid to see if that would help. The top shelf doesn't was very well

Try waiting it out - some dishwashers like to run a rinse first to get off the easy stuff, then it starts the wash cycle. Let it run it's cycle and see if it works.

Hello
Your dishwasher has been designed to use a liquid rinse aid. Pouring a liquid rinse aid into the proper recepticle in your dishwasher when you add dish detergent greatly improves drying performance. You can further improve drying performance by selecting the Sanitize option, in addition to the other options you've selected, and increasing the water temperature. For Best Results, use Jet-Dry Turbo
Spots and film form in your dishwasher's rinse cycle, when detergents are already down the drain. FINISH® JET-DRY® Rinse Agent works in the rinse cycle, lowering the surface tension of water and causing it to sheet. Better rinsing results in less spots and film.
If these recommendations do not improve drying time, please contact Samsung Customer Care

I
have the same problem with gunk and spots on dishes. I took apart the parts at
bottom covering the heating element. There is all sorts of gunk on everything.
I cleaned it all, even under gaskets and filter screen. I am neither sure what caused
it nor how to prevent it. My thinking maybe the water source. Water in my town
has gotten worse in quality and has bad smell. I use a major water filter
system for drinking water. My thought is that the heating element is drying the
water up and leaving sediment from water.
The problem is hard water leaving those spots. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a product to solve this problem once and for all. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that leave those spots. It is very affordable and even has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look with this product.
I just took mine apart (bottom turntable, screen, etc.) and I was disgusted by the grime and gum that was clogging everything. I think it was keeping all the water a gritty white, which constantly left residue. I am currently running a load... hope that the "clean" dishwasher actually washes my dishes now!
