SOURCE: elo 1515L touch monitor. How

Hello,

These are a major pain to open. The case halves are held together by tabs and notches all around the perimeter of the case. They are very hard to get open without scuffing the case up a bit. The easiest way to do it is with 2 small flat blade screwdrivers. You will need to insert the first one between the two halves by pressing very hard to even gently tapping the screwdriver with a small hammer. Once one is inserted you will use the other one to work around the case and pop the other tabs loose. It will take some patients to open these, they are not really designed for user serviceability. It sounds like you are having issues with the unit. The most common problem with these units is the capacitors in the power supply causing the units to not power up. Look for bulging tops, if you find any then its best to replace them all since the case is so hard to get back into. We repair these units in our service department all the time. Here is a link to our web page talking about capacitors http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/ and what to look for. If you don't want to do the repair on your monitor we can do it for you. An Elo 1515L has a set resolution of 1024 x 768. I'm not sure if there is something special with Macs, but you can check the OSD (On Screen Display) settings.

The touchscreen is not working, it's seems that the USB port is loose. Where can I find a replacement part or can it be repaired?

Hello,

The USB port is soldered to the driver board in the monitor. If it is loose then either the jack is broken and will need to be replaced or the jack is pulled from the solder on the board and will need to be resoldered. Hopefully the board was not damaged. The ELO monitors are a pain to open the case on and you will need to know how to solder to replace the jack. If you don't normally do electronics repair then in this case it would be best to find a repair technician than can do the work for you. As long as the board itself is not damaged then this type repair should not run over about $50 (parts and labor) plus shipping. Here is a link to a service site that can do the work for you.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

I have the same issue with a 1515L Monitor. It comes on for a split second and goes off? or picture goes away. Picture looks fine at all resolutions and touch screen is working also.

jcleary916, You or qualified electronics technician will need to find out why "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" fail to sustain output of white light that enables you to see what is on the LCD panel. CCFL inverter supply probably needs work on it. Do some reading in my and other fixya lcd monitor tech'e profiles. You will be amazed that so many other owners of ALL brands of CCFL back-lit monitors have YOUR exact same symptom as your's does. And then think about all the other owners who don't find their way to fixya for an answer!!! Keep in touch by doing another comment to this one after you do some reading. Then let me know what you are willing to do about your BLACK or BLANK n BLACK CCFL back-lit LCD monitor and how old it is!!! 12fixlouie

Broken Elo Monitor Screen

Touch screens are even more expensive that straight LCD panels. This repair may cost more than the original monitor. Why do you need another panel? Is the panel cracked or is the touch screen portion not working correctly?

How to adjust sensitivity on ELO Touch Screen monitors

you probably have a capacitive screen, it only responds to finger press. You need a resistive screen to be able to respond to finger, nail, or pen press.
