You must make sure that the ribbon is compatible with the label you are attempting to print on. It must be a permanent resin. We use the AXR7+ material. Try to avoid using such a high printer head temperature as this will reduce the life of the head.

The printer is in line mode. Do the following to take it out of line mode:
Turn printer power off.
Hold the feed button while turning printer power on.
When the light starts flashing, release the feed button.
When the light starts flashing again, press and hold the feed button.
When the light turns steady amber, release the feed button.
When the light turns steady green, the mode is changed.
Verify the mode by printing and inspecting a status report.
This requires good timing and may take several tries. You'll know it worked if no labels are reeled out after you're done.

SOURCE: my lp 2844 will not print
Firstly is your label Thermal Direct?(DT)
To test quickly score your fingernail across the surface of the label, if it leaves a black mark then it is DT
If there is no mark then it is probablly Thermal Transfer(TT) and requires a ribbon, which you cannot use on the LP 2844, only on the TLP2844.
If you have DT labels then go into the printer driver via Printers & Faxes and the Printing preferences and change the darkness to level 7.
Try printing again.
If it works then cahnge the darkness again until you get a satisfactory print darkensss.
If it still does not print then change the darkness to maximum, does it print?
If not then I think you have a duff printer, return it to the company that supplied it for repair.

The quick and simple answer is to use a different driver instead of the 2488 driver that UPS provides, that is where the problem lies..
Under printer properties, Advanced Tab, I changed the printer driver to Zebra S4MDT-200dpi and now the printer works fine. Prints labels correctly, and most of all only one label at a time... The drivers are there in the UPS software, just change which one you use and go...

When the last label printed is still under the printhead, that means the printer is in "rewind mode". There should be an option for "tear off" mode in the printer driver. This is the mode that pushes the last label printed out to the tear bar. The printer will then "backfeed" when printing the next label. Peel off mode is used if you want to print a label and have it "peeled" off the liner so that you can just pick up the label off the liner and apply it. That takes the rewind option to be installed.
Watch out though, if you are using a label software package, there might be a setting in the label format setup for "tear off" which usually overrides the settings in the printer.
Hope that helps !
