SOURCE: My remote won't start the fire in my vent free fire place.

Mine did the same thing. What happens is when the batteries die and the remote sits, the remote loses its address. I found this link to the remote manual online. You have to locate your receiver in the fireplace insert. On the receiver there is some dip switch settings. Open up the link below and go to the appendix at the bottom and find your address of the receiver, mine was 005. Go to your remote and power on. Hit the up arrow until you are at the timer. Now hit the left arrow on your remote 10 times, this will diplay the address of the remote, mine was 000, change this number to match your address of the receiver by hitting the up arrow on the remote, I changed mine to 005. Now hit the left arrow again and this will take you out of programming. Power on your remote and should work, enjoy.

You may have a bad receiver that has lost its ability to control the servo motor and adjust the flame height. Part#111441-02 Proflame Receiver. It may also explain the poor reception.

Gas ventless fireplace remote will not work have inserted new batteries in both fireplace and remote but fireplace not recognizing remote

Every time the batteries are changed in the receiver and transmitter the transmitter has to be "re-learned" to the receiver. To do this locate the "learn" button which will look like a tiny hole so you have to stick the end of a pin or a pen in the hole to press the button. Hold the button down until it beeps at you 5 times and release. press the button again and release and then press Any button on the transmitter.
Once the receiver is set into its "learn" function it does not matter what button is pressed on the transmitter because the next signal the receiver picks up will be the frequency it is attached-to.
In order to change the transmitter simply hold the learn button down until it beeps 5 times again which tells us it has wiped out its memory. Then press, release and press the transmitter.

Ventless gas fire place runs fin on low setting but will shut down on the high setting after 20min or so.

If it's a Remote Controlled unit and uses a radio frequency remote control, the unit may be overheating.
They are heat sensitive and will shut down the burner if the temp reaches 160 degrees.
If it is a Remote Controlled Gas Fireplace as stated. Move the Receiver Box as far out from the gas logs and off to side as much as the wiring will allow. If you have a lower louvered control compartment, the remote receiver should be down inside there. However, it doesn't get hot there.

If your is not Remote Controlled, the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) which is part of the pilot assembly may be partially clogged with dust, lint and/or pet hair and will need to be cleaned out.
Remember, Vent-free Gas Appliances use interior air for combustion. So whatever is floating in your household air goes into the fireplace. burners, pilot, etc and clogs it up. By the same token, the oxygen level in the room air may be too low, when you run the burner on high and the ODS is doing exactly what it should.

Finally, the Thermocouple (which is another safety feature) may be loose where it connects into the Gas Control Valve and is loosing contact when the burner is on high.

If you still have your Owners Manual for you Gas Fireplace, consult it's Trouble Shooting Guide, as well as the section on Maintenance. Both sections will be of great help in allowing you to perform the necessary things.

If you don't have your Owners Manual go online to the Manufacturer's website. There you can download the Owners Manual for your Model in a pdf format and print it.

If you don't know who the manufacturer is ... look in the fireplace or the lower control compartment for some metal or plastic tags, which should be wired to the controls. One of those tags (look on both sides of the tags) will tell you who the manufacturer is, the model number and the serial number.

Hope this helps you solve your problem.

I cannot get my remote to start up the fire place. It worked fine last year, but now it doesn't turn the fire on. It's remote unit FRC 0.584.004. Fcc ID is QFA-FRC584001.

There is batteries in the remote and at the loggs. Replace both. Mine had a black box under the logs on the left side tht had 4AAA batteries. Be carefull that the wiring is not pulled loose.
