The LWCO is designed to shut off the power on the control circuit if the probe ever looses the constant ground it is reading by being submerged under water. If your LWCO trips it could indicate your are either in a low water condition or that you have excessive calcium or mineral that is coating the probe with a layer or thickness around it which is preventing it from reading the ground through the water and will trip the board on a false low water signal. It would be best to pull out the probe and clean it with emery cloth to remove any hard water buildup from the rod. You can also check the board electrically by removing the probe wire from the probe itself and manually grounding it to the tank or jacket to simulate the ground signal, after which hit the reset button. If the board does not reset you may have a board issue or there is no power going to the board in the first place.

Use a 12V test light to check. Clip the ground lead of the test light to the FRAME - not the ground wire of the socket. Probe the socket and wires. If no lights, follow the power wires back and test w/ probe until you find power. If it DOES light with the clip on the FRAME, place the test light clip on the 12V (+) terminal of the battery. and probe the GROUND wire of the socket back until it lights - this is the last place the GROUND connection is good. You should fix the break or cut the dead side of the wire and tie it to a good ground to get the headlight to work again.

Ice machince is going max freeze cycle shut down

1. Possible cause. Water leak. Check purge valve, water curtain, sump, sump hose.
2. Air filters clogged. Clean air filters.
3. Dirty condenser. Clean condenser.
4. Restricted location, intake air to hot. Have machine moved.
5. Ice thickness sensor dirty or disconnected. Check ice thickness sensor probe.
6. Water distributor dirty. Remove and clean water distributor.
7. Inlet water valve leaks through during freeze cycle. Check water inlet valve.
8. Connected to hot water. Check for bleed through from missing check valve in building water supply.
9. Incomplete harvest. Check harvest system.
10.High pressure cut out opened. Check fan motor pressure control, check fan motor, check controller using test mode.
11. Fan motor pressure control open. Check fan pressure control.
12. Fan motor not turning. Check fan motor, check fan blade, check controller using test mode.
13.Water pump not pumping. Check pump motor, check controller using test mode.
14. Pump hose disconnected. Check hose.
15. Compressor not operating. check compressor contactor, check controller using test mode.
Check compressor start components, check PTCR resistance and temperature, check compressor voltage, check compressor windings.
16. Low refrigerant charge. Add some refrigerant and restart unit. If cycle time imporves, look for a leak.
17. Hot gas valve leaks through during freeze. Check hot gas valve for hot outlet during freeze.
18. Thermostatic expansion valve bulb loose. Check bulb.
19. Thermostatic expansion valve producing very low or high superheat. Check evaporator superheat, Change TXV if incorrect.
20. Compressor inefficent. Check compressor amp draw, if low and all else is correcy, change compressor.

How does a low water cut off probe work

It depends on what type of heater you have. Most with probes work by conductivity. There is an electrical current that flows through the probe and then to water. When the water drops below the probe level, then the current is interrupted, and the circuit opens.

Noticed water leaking a lot from bottom of unit. Looked like a pretty good leak. Unit is 9 years old. Leaks when Pump is running

More than likely the heat exchanger. Has the pH and Total Alkalinity been low? Check the Pressure/Temp relief valve, thermostat probe, high limit switches, etc. first though...

Bike wont start, battery good power to bike tries to start but wont, can push start to get running, whats wrong

If you can push start it it may be a low compression problem. Do a compression test, if its low follow with a leakdown test to determine if it is due to valve or piston leakage on a for stroke. If compression is good, try cleaning the carburators.

My camera wont charge

1 Is the charger unit OK? Connect a voltmeter to the camera plug to test the voltage. While connected, wiggle the wire at both ends to test if it is broken. If not OK, replace charger unit.

2 Is the battery OK? Test battery voltage with voltmeter. Connect crocodile clip leads to the voltmeter probes and a good charger. (A cut paperclip can be inserted into the center connection of the charger.) Check that meter reading is positive, and then hold meter probes on the battery terminals, making sure polarity is correct! Voltage should drop immediately, and then start to slowly but steadily rise after after a few seconds. No change with a flat battery indicates battery failure. Replace battery.
3. If both charger and battery are good, then problem is with camera. There are no user serviceable parts inside the camera, and as with laptop computers, it will probably be more economical to buy a new product, and take advantage of the always cheaper prices of newer and better models.

Booster heater not heating

If elements exploded, you replace them, and you don't have heat, you need a meter.

But the obvious things you can do -- check the high limit (little red button on lower front panel, behind a plate)

Otherwise you'll need a meter to check continuity for each thermostat (control/high limit), the coil on the contactor, the probe for low water cut-off, and voltage inputs and outputs to the low water cut-off board. Also there is the transformer to check.

The only way to test the thermostats without a meter is to jumper a wire across the terminals. This has some real personal dangers. Turn off the breaker, CREATE a jumper and attach it. Do not attempt to hand hold a jumper wire. WAY TOO DANGEROUS.

If you need help with any particular test, and you have a meter, I can help you out. Good luck - Mike
