SOURCE: Won't stay powered on

There is a relay right next to the fuses on the inside dg1u it says on the top. I cleaned it and pressed down firmly on it and it seem to have fixed it. It fired up for the first time.. The relay might need to be replaced if this doesnt work for ya.
I found a solution at: http://www.diyforums.net/forums/domestic-electronics/11098-yamaha-rxv795-receiver-shuts-itself-down-after-some-time.html

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V463 component hook ups

This receiver does not have video conversion capabilities. In the owners manual it mentions this. So HD in = HD out. Analog in = analog out on the video portion

SOURCE: problem hooking up my Yamaha RX-V461 to my PS3

When you connect the optical cable to the ps3 you must change the output to optical on the ps3. To do this, startup your ps3 then go to settings then audio output settings and change it to Digital Out (Optical).

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V663 - HDMI doesn't work.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a workaround:

  • as you posted, audio out of the DVD goes to the receiver;
  • HDMI out of the DVD goes to the Schaub Lorenz LCD.
Even if it were a compatibility issue or HDMI processor issue on the receiver, the above should get you going.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

SOURCE: Is the Yamaha RX-V596 capable of using HDMI in

Nope. Use S-Video or composite video In and digital audio in from the Cable Box, S- or composite-video out to the TV/Monitor.

OR (what I do) skip the receiver as a video middleman and take the HDMI video right to the TV; and run the Cable Box digital audio to the Receiver.

I cant get zone 2 to work on my yamaha rx v673. They are 2 outdoor speakers.. please help

I had a similar problem where I could not increase zone 2 volume - Page 100 in the manual notes that 'power amp assign' must be set to "7 Ch + 1 zone" before zone 2 max volume can be changed. Try that.

I just put new batteries in the remote how do i get zone 2 & zone 3 to show on remote control? Yamaha RX=V1400

If you are referring to the Yamaha remote, slide the switch on the side of the remote to "Amp" then, using the "select" arrows up or down, toggle till you get to "Zone 2" or "zone 3" Once that's displayed on the LCD screen of the remote, press "system power" That should do it. If you still have a problem, post a reply and i will help you further

My yamaha receiver LCD screen dose lit when power up

Is it an RX series receiver?

I've repaired 2 of these recently with the same problem you have.

There's a very small 14 volt bulb that fits into the hood on the back of the LCD display.

It's about 0.15 inches in diameter and will need to be spliced into the existing two pin cable ( after you cut out the bad bulb)
