Re: Sub out put problems

Change the amp ground to the same one as the head unit.

That will cancel out the noise.

Best of Luck.

My jensen uv8 sub remote wire only puts out 9 volts y

It is probably going bad or there is a short.Just simply use a keyed on wire ( radio power is fine) for your sub amp turn on . In otherwords use a power sourde that only comes on when vehicle ignition is turned on. If you use one hot all the time your going to kill your battery, Good Luck !

First off, you need to disconnect your battery immediately.. The reason for the feed back is you have a hot wire touching ground somewhere....probably a large sub speaker cable.....What will happen is the power going from the amp to the speaker or from the head unit to the sub will come into contact with bare metal and feed that current back into the system through the isolated ground. This will either reduce sound, or when the power is high enough, turn from a low hum to a heavy crackle. now if it crackles with the bass, more than likely its in your sub/amp configuration....if its constant or completely random then it could be anywhere in the system. check for bare, broken, or exposed wire.

Im not sure which plugs I should plug my RCA cables that come from my amp to the reciever. I dont know if its the "back RCA output" or the "Front RCA output" or the "subwoofer...

First of all get yourself a Y-LINK cable. (single male RCA on one side/ double female RCA on the other side) Connect the Y-LINK to your head unit sub woofer output with the stereo RCA that leads to the sub woofer amplifier. Now you are connected to the correct output. I do not know what head unit you had connected before to base your comparison, however there is a output voltage difference from one head unit to another, (1.2V, 2V, 2.5V, 4V, 5V) and that is what determines where the gain on the amplifier should be set to. Always match the headunit output voltage with the amplifier gain control to be the same. It is not uncommon for some entry level units to have a single sub woofer output. dreamsystems

Jensen uv8 and amp hook up

Remote wire from Jensen is blue or blue/white. Use Blu/white if there is one. . RCA's, for subs, use the rear if no subwoofer pre-outs are available. If unit has sub pre-uts, use them as the head ubit (stereo) would have a level that can be raised or lowered thus giving you more control over the input to the sub amp.
