A text is displayed in my screen telling,"This copy of Windows is not genuine"

Hi,

Good day. Microsoft has released an update that checks your OS serial against a list of known leaked serials (corporate edition keys, etc). If your serial matches one of them then it puts a darling little message on the bottom right hand of your login screen, and also a system tray icon that nags you to buy a genuine copy of windows. It will also pop up a dialog that says "This copy of Windows is not Genuine""This copy of Windows is not genuine and you have not yet resolved this issue. This computer is no longer eligible to recieve select security upgrades from Microsoft. To protect your copy of Windows, you must click Get Genuine now."Every so often a little balloon will pop up that says "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting." Below that it will say "This copy of Windows is not genuine. Click this balloon to resolve now." If you're working on a system that has this running it gets annoying in a hurry. You need to buy a legitimate key which is included in every original windows installation disc.

Hope this information resolve your concern. Have a great day.

Free victim of software counterfeiting

Microsoft, in a rather brilliant move, has released an update that checks your OS serial against a list of known leaked serials (corporate edition keys, etc). If your serial matches one of them then it puts a darling little message on the bottom right hand of your login screen, and also a system tray icon that nags you to buy a genuine copy of windows.
It will also pop up a dialog that says "This copy of Windows is not Genuine"
"This copy of Windows is not genuine and you have not yet resolved this issue. This computer is no longer eligible to recieve select security upgrades from Microsoft.

To protect your copy of Windows, you must click Get Genuine now."
Every so often a little balloon will pop up that says "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting." Below that it will say "This copy of Windows is not genuine. Click this balloon to resolve now." If you're working on a system that has this running it gets annoying in a hurry. What the time interval between pop-ups is, I don't know, but I imagine it'll drive most people to buy a legit key after a while just to get the thing to *******.
Fixing the popup is easy enough.
Reboot to safe mode. Open up

http://www.eradicatespyware.net/How_To_Use_HijackThis.html
and scroll down to the selection that says "020 - Winlogon Nofity: Wgalogon - ..." select that, and click fix checked.
You can also go and delete the actual executable that nags you. The full path to it should be (for most installs) C:\Windows\System32\wgatray.exe.
Reboot after this. No longer should you get the popups and that nagger as you log in should not show up either

"you may be a victim

That balloon means that your copy of windows was not activated after a certain amount of time it will give you that balloon pop-up. i suggest that you click start or the windows key then go into all programs then accessories then system tools and click activate windows and in the window click activate over the internet now. then you shouldn't see that balloon anymore

Hi

If you install copy of WIndows XP operating system, do not update it or get update it through internet as it will detect that you are using counterfeiting or pirated software. Just reinstall again the operating system and this time do not get update from internet when installing. Ever it pop up to your computer, just ignore it. Otherwise, that will appear.

Good Luck.

Victim of software counterfeiting

you can take your PC back to the seller and request your money back.

but as far as the windows operating system is concerned, you are liable. therefore you should purchase a legitamate copy of Windows XP Professional as soon as possible.

Or, you could download a free operating system like Kubuntu Linux.

Black screen on my pc and it's says you may be a victim of software counterfeiting

Did this just pop up out of the blue?
Is it a recent purchase?
Did it happen when you tried to update windows for the first time?
If the answer is yes to the second two questions then you have a pirated copy of windows installed and it has been picked up bt microsoft. You need to get an origional copy of windows and re install.
if it is the first answer and you know your copy is good, then re install making sure that you enetr the product key correctly and then register the copy at microsoft.
I hope this helps
