I would try to power off the machine completely and hold a key down on the keyboard and power on the computer while still holding down one key. Keep holding it (it might make an irritating beep sound, that is expected) . This is one trick that will almost always force a computer to go into the BIOS. I might also check that the power to the Hard drive was not accidentaly unplugged as I see the CD-ROM drive was recognized, but I do not see a hard drive which means a couple of things, either the hard drive died or it has no connection to either the power or data cable. Check these and see if your computer will boot.

Maybe I am missing something here; but it sounds to me like the bios diags are not identifying a boot device. This can be caused by a bad or damaged hard drive. If the machine is more than 5 years old, you may want to try a known good hard drive in it and verify that the battery is good and the ac adapter is still good. if it is a relatively new machine, try operating without the ac adapter connected before pursuing hard drive issues.
