If you are talking chain saw there is a safety clutch lever immediately in front of the top handle. this has to be back against the handle and when the chain jams you simply push it forward with your fingers and the chain stops

something is pinching the chain when you have the side cover on. either the bar isn't sitting flush to the saw or you don't have the chain in the sprocket correctly and that is causing it to bind

seems your over rev's may be your carb is sucking air it could be the intake gasket isn't lined up properly or the carb mounting bolts vibrated lose
sometimes the over rev is caused by dirty linkage jamming or trigger jam

When you tighten the two side nuts, make sure you haven't jammed the chain on the gear. The chain must move freely(by hand) while tightening and when at proper adjustment

Chain brake jammed on Echo CS400 chainsaw

You will need to release the brake by applying a very heavy screwdriver to the + shaped part of the brake coupling. Check the action of the brake handle and duplicate it at the the +. Hope this helps!

Chain jammed wont turn makita chain saw

Make sure the safety chain cut off isn't on. It's on top of the saw and when pushed back will prevent the chain from turning. If that's not the problem take the sprocket cover off and loosen the chain and inspect to see what's wrong.

I have put on a new bar and chain but chain is jamming/loosening

with the chain on the saw and the saw not running, pull the chain around the bar, does the chain mesh with the drive gear correctly? If not, you got the wrong chain or the gear is worn out.

Mccullough chain saw pm610 chain slips -- maybe clutch issue

have you greased your clutch bearing ever.some times they get dirty and tighten up after running a while.pull your clutch off and clean and grease bearing with a little alex grease,and I mean just a few drops.not meant to have a lot of it,too much will burn the crank shaft and you will have more problems then you started with
