Windsor knot tie instruction

Cross over, around the right side, in back and around the left side, over the front and around the right side, this time putting the fat part behind the frontmost layer you just laid.

Or, perhaps better, see http://www.ties.com/how-to-tie-a-tie/windsor
I think that the Windsor is the best-looking of the common tie knots.

How to tie a full windsor knot. I like them crisp and diamond shaped.

You want the back length to be less than the front length. How to get them right depends on both the length of the tie, and the size of our neck -- there's no one-size-fits-all instruction to start with so much on each side.

See http://www.tie-a-tie.net/windsor.html or a host of other sites that will tell you how to tie any tie knot.

Where can I learn to tie rope knots like some sailor knots?

You can do a little searching online to find tutorials for tying sailing knots. If there is a specific knot that you are looking for I would suggest going to Wikipedia to see the list of knots and then look YouTube or a site like eHow for step by step instructions for how to tie them.

Be sure to wet the knot before you tie it when using monofilament line to prevent friction heat and weakening the knot.
