I have an Arris Touchstone Telephony Modem....I just got a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with 4 port switch model WRT54G...No matter what I do I can't get my computer to recognise the router and if the eithernet cord from the modem isn't plugged into my computer I can't get internet (trust me I have tried all everything I can think of.) I have tried connecting the cable and telephone line that are required to the modem..Then takeing the ethernet cord connecting it from the modem to the router and then takeing the usb cord and connecting it to the modem then to my computer....I tried the usb cord from modem to my computer and ethernet cord from my computer to router and still nothing...I am frustrated...Any help?! I would appreciate anything!
Shut down your computer, unplug the cable modem and the switch. Connect all three - computer to switch, switch to modem. Make sure that the ethernet cable between the router and the modem is in the router uplink port and that the computer is plugged into one of the four ports that look alike. Wait 30 seconds - plug in the modem. Wait another 30 seconds, plug in the router, wait another 30 seconds and boot the computer.
Open a browser and see if you have internet access. If you still don't, then try to check the browser by typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of the browser. That should give you the browser sign in screen. The Linksys default is to leave the user name blank and type admin for the password. That should give you access to the router so you can check the settings.
If this doesn't work, document carefully what happens and post again with your results and we'll try to go from there.

I switched to Comcast Digital Voice, and I have an ADT alarm system. I rewired the alarm from the outside box and spliced it into a standard telephone cord, the cord plugs into the back of my Arris modem. I tested the alarm by calling ADT (on my cell phone), warning them I was going to test it, and did so. They got the signal, no problem. I had plugged my single house phone into the second jack in the Arris modem, got a dial tone. Bam! I'm done, right? Now here is where it gets funky. Over the next couple of days, my friends were telling me that they were leaving messages for me at the house to no avail. I figured out that the house phone wasn't receiving calls. I could call out, but I couldn't receive them. There would be a single blink on the Tel2 light when I called the house on my cell phone, but the phone never rang. When I swapped the ADT line and the house line, I could make and receive calls, but the ADT line (in Tel2) couldn't call the alarm center. So: Tel1 seems to work fine. Tel2 can make calls but not receive them when the house phone is plugged into it, but can't make calls when the ADT line is plugged in. I tried using a simple phone jack splitter in Tel1 and it seems to function identically - it has the same problem. This makes me think that the issue isn't simply a modem issue. Ideas? Should I reverse some of the wires for the ADT line?

I get a busy signal when I pick up the phone. My telephone green light on the modem is constantly blinking and there is no light on the bottom battery ....I have no clue if that light is supposed to be on or not. I thought maybe someone called here and did not hang up their phone????. The only calls on my phone are from those pesky 800 scamming credit card creeps. Help!!
