Your thermostat has malfunctioned and is stuck open. This is a safety measure to prevent the engine from overheating in the case of failure. Change Thermostat and Gasket.

91 sierra heater control display comes on shoes fan on low temperature centered vent on floor but none of the controls work

Could be the controller. Check the vacuum line from the engine to vacuum ball. then from the ball to the controller. Vacuum is what controls the vent actuators.

I have a 1998 gmc sierra 1500 that died when i gave it gas after putting it in gear. after it died i tried turning the ignition again and my guage read it was not charging but there was a buzzing sound...

First, check your alternator/serpentine belt for breakage/integrity. If you successfully re-started the engine after this incident, but your "volts" gage did not register as charging, your problem is likely alternator/belt-related.

What is the engine size on a 1991 gmc sierra 2500 4x4

That year you probably have a 5.7 or 5.0 motor. You can find the engine size by getting your VIN and calling the dealer. They can tell you from either the 8th or 10th number in the VIN

Help needed to figure out why truck says it over heating

you might want to check the wires going to the temperature sensor on the engine make sure it hasnt rubbed the protective coating off, this can give you a false reading, the safest way is to put a manual gauge in place of the temperature sensor and run engine to make sure the engine is not overheating. You can pick up a cheap manual temp gauge at your local parts store and install the temperature probe into the hole where the temp sensor was located and run the engine. It sounds like you have a guage malfunction. But is better to be safe than sorry.

I have no heat in my truck. Temp gauge shows 180-210 degrees. What's the problem and where is the stat located on the engine. Is it under the alternator?

If your truck temperature guage is reading 180-210, then your engine is at the right temperature, and your thermostat is fine. Most likely you have a problem with your heater core, which is located somewhat on the passenger side, under the dash. It is a small radiator, and if it doesnt have hot coolant circulating thru it, you wont get any heat. You could try to flush your cooling system, to see if you have any flow thru the heater core, but often you have to just change it. It can be quite a job to get to it, so make sure it is bad before you attempt repair.

My 1990 gmc sierra 1500 temp. guage stuck after new thermostat.

Does your temp guage needle drop to Zero when you switch off ignition ?

If not, your temperature transmitter is faulty, or the wire running to it is earthing out somewhere.

Hope this is of help.

Good Luck !

sounds like the computer has a glitch. you might need to go to the dealer to have the computer trained(reprogrammed) or to see if you need a new one.
