SOURCE: Why wont my computer recognize

Those speakers are meant to just plug into a sound card or onboard sound device or any sound device that has headphone jacks e.g. iPod. They don't provide feedback to the PC, so there is absolutely no need for drivers, which is why you don't see them in device manager. Think of them as a glorified pair of headphones.

SOURCE: my logitech R-20 speakers.

Hi again,

Appreciate your reply and the additional information and as initially stated nothing is wrong with the speakers (Logitech R-20)

When you installed a new hard drive and reinstalled Windows, most but not all the necessary drivers were loaded which we can assume included the sound device. Though Windows recognized that there is a multimedia audio controller, it has no knowledge of what type and therefore would not know which drivers are needed. What is needed therefore, is determine what is your specific multimedia audio controller, let Windows know about it and proceed to install appropriate drivers.

The easiest way to do this would be with the use of the recovery CD and/or drivers CD that came with your PC or motherboard. If you have such a CD, pop it in your CD tray and read the contents. One folder should say something like Audio, Multimedia or sound. Explore that folder and look for any setup.exe or allow Windows to auto install. The latter is done by opening your Device Manager, right click on the yellow marking and click Update driver. When asked for the location of drivers, browse/point to where you saw the Audio, Multimedia or sound folder is (in the CD).

If no CD came with the computer, you need to determine what specific motherboard you have. If you are somewhere in Australia, perhaps you can try Concorde Computers for the necessary identification and possible driver download. You can also get their contact information here.

If for some reason that would not work for you, you can get you PC's motherboard model on the initial powerup. The display would show something like Asus XYZ, Gigabyte ABC or Intel 123. Using that motherboard model number, you can proceed to the MB manufacturer's website and download appropriate drivers or post back here that we can further assist you.

SOURCE: I have the Logitech Z130 speakers, and the left

could also be a damaged wire, check that first by "feeling up" the wires, does it feel cut or interrupted somewhere? if not, you can open the speakers by lifting or prying out the rubber cushions on the bottom side and removing the screws. Remember this voids your warranty, if it's still applicable.

I have the Logitech Z130 speakers, and the left speaker does not emit any sound. Is this perhaps due to bad connections inside the speaker? If so, how do I open the case?
