I am getting a weak signal on the right channel of my Hitachi HT-40S turntable with original Ortofon LM 10 cartridge.

If you have disconnected the cartridge and touched the leads in that state and you had no sound out of the right channel, then there is nothing wrong with the cartridge at all. You either have a bad lead from the deck to the amp, or a bad connector to the amp. If replacing or fixing the lead does not correct the problem, then you have to look at the pre-amp in your amp as the cause. The amp will have a dedicated magnetic cartridge pre-amp. It's failure on the right channel will not effect any other function, such as tape or radio. You can easily find the cause, by tracing the phono connector wires back (inside the unit) to the first port of call on the PC board. You will either find a single IC doing most of the work of the pre-amp or two IC's, one for each channel. If you are lucky and a single channel IC does the work, replace the right hand one. Otherwise replace the dual channel one.

If you think it's the cartridge, then remember that putting the left channel connector on the right input of the cartridge should see no sound. But if you hear sound by switching the cartridge connections the cartridge is good.
I have noticed that you have tried another amp with the deck and it made no difference. This implies then a faulty lead between the deck and amps.

Can i hook up a power amp to my denon avr-3300 with out a pre-amp

Yes. Your receiver has the required pre-out connection terminals needed to go to an external amplifier. That would make your receiver operate as the pre-amp/processor.

My band plugs into the input channels on the SX2442FX mixer, which we then hook up to the PMP2000 to use as a PA. Since the SX2442FX is not a "Powered" Mixer, I figured that we should be going...

Either way will work, however your friend's method probably would be slightly better since it goes through less stages within the PMP2000. The "left and right power amp inputs" are the INPUTS to the power amp in the PMP2000 and hence are the best places to connect the mixer if using the PMP2000 as only a power amp. Note doing this will LIKELY disconnect any other input to the PMP2000 from the power amps in it... that is all the preamps in the PMP2000. DO USE TRS cables!!! and power both units from the same receptacle to avoid ground bounce.

How do we hook up a roadmaster equalizer model number EA400N to a 1989 dodge ram pickup truck

Hi there,

First of all I would recomend that you consult your user's manual that should have been in the box when you purchased your reciever. Your CDR and MD in/out jacks should not be used for an EQ. Your EQ process should take place after everything else in the signal chain is completed and right before your final amplification. If you have no designated in/out for an EQ then you may have to find some other way of processing the signal. Perhaps a pre-amp may be needed in order to bring all of your signals together to then run through your EQ. Sometimes some amps have pre-out/in RCA jacks. These can often be used for an EQ.

Post further comments for more help.
Good Luck!!

Thanks

Visonik 350watt Amp Doesnt Come On....

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter probe on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red probe alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I am trying to hook together a computer and a turntable(Turntable has its own pre-amp) & I need a diagram on what wire gos where?

OK. Since there is a pre-amp, all you need to do is to connect pre-amp output to Line-in input on the PC. This may be a bit of challenge as the connector on the pre-amp and computer are of different types. Usually, you need a cable with RCA connectors on one end and 3.5mm stereo pin (same pin as you have for stereo headphones) on the other.
