Question about Sony KDL52V5100 52 in. LCD HDTV
The 'barcode' effect is mainly when you turn the TV on although it happened once randomly when we were watching TV. Today it displayed the colours and we had to unplug the TV, wait 30 sec. then turn it on again. Picture is fine... for now.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

How many blinks do you get? Depending on the amount of blinks you can figure out what the issue is.
If it blinks 6 times you can get the fix at
No power RED Standby LED flashes 6 times/KDF55XS955, KDF60XS955, KDFE55A20, KDFE60A20
They have other fixes for E60A20

The problem is that the panel has failed. Apparently this is a common problem with LCD TV's between 18 mths and 3 yrs old. If it survives over 3 yrs it is likely to last for a few years longer. The cost of replacing the panel is more than a replacement TV!

This will be down to bad capacitors in your power supply, Take the back of your tv look at the power supply and look for bulged capacitors ( domed shaped on top ) they may also be leaking a brown liquid substance, replace these and that should cure the fault.

Check the U24 (CPU reset IC) on the "A" board. It may be burned. If you have a DVM (voltmeter) check for 3.3V across SW1 connections near this device. If you don't have 3.3V, U24 is bad. This part is not available from Sony. The TV may work if you just remove U24 from the board. I posted this fix on Agoraquest also, you can read more there (I'm "Roundabout" on that forum). Hope that helps
