After changing the ribbon, i am unable to print labeles because of a "ribbon error" and i don't know how to fix it.

Remove the ribbon, ensure that it is not loose and refit - I have had this before - the ribbon has basically not slotted down properly when inserted.

Good afternoon, I am having problems getting my printer to print a complete card without telling me that the ribbon is broken. The error code I am receiving is PR-01724 The Printer I am using is the...

PR-01724 Ribbon Break

The print ribbon is broken.

Possible Cause 1: The print ribbon has broken or is not installed.

Solution 1: Trim the broken ribbon evenly and tape the cut end of the ribbon to the ribbon on the take-up spool. Install the ribbon cartridge.
NOTE: Do not switch take-up spools when fixing.

Possible Cause 2: If the ribbon type is K or KT, the print ribbon is at the end of the roll.

Solution 2: Load a new roll of monochrome print ribbon.

Technical issues:

•If you have recently changed edge-to-edge settings using the SmartDriver, printing might be too close to the edge of the card. Change edge to edge settings.

•You might have moved the print ribbon while the printer power was off. The next card will print correctly. The printer is designed to allow you to fix problems while the printer power is on.

•If the print ribbon is stuck to the card, the Intensity setting might be so high that printing causes the ribbon to stick to the card. Lower the Intensity or power setting.

•The card design might be longer than the card size. Change the card design to be less than or equal to the card size in the long direction (3.37 inches or 85.60 mm).

•Printing might not be positioned properly on the card. Change the "Left/Right" position of printing (using the SmartDriver) so the printing begins and ends on the card.

My oven is saying F7 d6. The d6 is flashing. The oven is beeping. It is a GE model number jsp42s0k4ss

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

Do you have the dreaded F7 message pulsating from your oven? The original purpose of the F7 message is to signal a stuck START key, which is a rare occurrence.

The more common cause is a type of short circuit that occurs in the touch panel near the cable slot. The fix that I will describe addresses this type of fault. It will not fix a stuck START key. It will not fix a faulty Electronic Range Control (ERC). If you are getting other errors, such as F1, the fix may still do the job. F0 is usually a shorted off key.
Cleaning the ribbon cable connector is a myth. What you accomplish is to temporarily disrupt the short circuit occurring near the slot in the touch panel. With time the short circuit grows back. It happens more often when the humidity is high. So here is my solution to the F7 problem.
The most important step is first turn off the power to the oven at your circuit breaker panel.
You will need to open the touch panel. There are typically three small screws on the bottom edge of the touch panel. It is advisable to have an assistant to hold up the panel while you work on it. Pull the panel outward at the bottom to gain access. There are many wires attached to the panel. Do not allow the panel to dangle by the wires.
When the panel is open, you will see a flat ribbon cable connecting the ERC to the touch panel. See photo # 1. The principle of the fix is to apply additional insulation in and around the ribbon cable at the slot where it exits the touch panel.
There are three basic styles of touch panels. Here is how the fix is applied for each style.
1. Plastic touch panel with a two-segment ribbon cable.
Apply a slip of paper or file card material between the two segments of ribbon cable in the area of the slot. Work the paper down as far as it will penetrate. Typically it will only go in about 1/8". See photo # 2.
2. Metal touch panel with a two-segment ribbon cable.
Apply the extra insulation as per style 1. In addition, apply extra insulation on both sides of the ribbon cable and the edges of the slot.
3. Metal touch panel with a one-segment ribbon cable. Apply the extra insulation on both sides of the ribbon cable and the edges of the slot.
If your style is different from the above three styles, the fix will not work for your situation.
Don't be concerned about using paper for the insulation. It will not get hot enough to burn. You will probably find a set of instructions printed on paper in the top of the oven when you open the touch panel.
If the fix doesn't work for your situation, you will need to replace either the touch panel or the ERC. Here is how to determine which one is faulty.

1. Turn the power off.
2. Remove the ribbon cable connector from the ERC.
3. Turn the power back on.
If the F7 does not appear after a few minutes, the problem is in the touch panel and it must be replaced.
If the F7 returns after a few minutes, the problem is with the ERC and it must be replaced or repaired.

Zebra 105sl laebls always come out blank

Power on while holding the pause button for 5 seconds. This should print black bar across the width of the label. If this prints, then check the darkness parameter in your label format or driver. Also check to make sure your ribbon is feeding coated side out. There is a shiny side and a dull side to a ribbon. The dull side should be against the media. If it is leaving an image on the ribbon and nothing on the label the ribbon is either loaded incorrectly or not a zebra ribbon.

Epson Artisan 800 continually indicating paper jam error--No jam.

Yes, that fixed the problem on my Artisan 800! Thanks so much for the info about slipping the cr scale back onto the u-guide on the back of the print head carriage, Larry P and dabaker!

For those trying this, the u clip is upside down so, from the front of the printer, you move the CR scale ribbon down a little and in towards you gently, in from the back towards the lower part of the rear of the print head assembly, and it will slip in on the top part of the ribbon into the u shaped groove (which, to be technical, looks more like an n-shaped groove, an upside down u). If it is loose and not clipped in, the CR scale ribbon will bow out easily on both sides of the print head carraige when lightly pressed towards the back of the printer near either side of the print head. (As pointed out in the service manual, do not touch the ribbon with your fingers, particularly if they may be greasy/greasty/gritty; use a clean tool for this-I used a q-tip which worked well for both testing the tension and for pushing it down and back into the proper guide slot.) If the CR scale ribbon is clipped in properly to the print head (properly seated in the n-shaped slot), it will bow towards the back of printer easily ONLY on the side that your press it from (ie left or right) but not on the opposite side of the carriage; the opposite side will remain almost entirely flush to the rear of the print assembly. Remember to press gently; you do not want to stretch or damage this scale ribbon if you can help it. If you have a small dental mirror and good light, you will be able to see the n-shapped clip (it's plastic and black on my 800 clearly. If the ribbon is correctly seated, it will be in the slot at the top and free at the bottom. Because of the use of u-slot in the previous posts, I was confused as to where to fit this in but then figured, nothing to lose and yep, it's actually the n-shaped slot at the top.

Fujitsu N6010 Power Button Cable Disconnected

it's just a typical ribbon cable... they plug into a slot. the slot may have a "hinge" like thing your have to carefully open.. or it may just be you have to plug it in to a "****"

I don't have a Fujitsu, so I can't tell you how exactly, but with Dell's the ribbon cable doesn't always have an "end", the "end" may be part of the motherboard.

this probably didn't help you, but thought i would give you some insight

Greenish tint to black type

This is a dot matrix printer. The way they work is there is a print head that has a heap of little needles with flat tops on them, and they push out at high speed against the ink ribbon, and the ink ribbon is pushed against the paper to make a dot. Then the pin is retracted, spring loaded.
Pretty amazing that it can work that fast, eh!
So the only thing that can influence the ink colour on your paper is the ribbon.
Are you using original Lexmark ribbons? If so, my recommendation would be to take a sample print to where you got the printer from and get them to demonstrate the print quality of one of these printers, then compare it with yours.
Dot Matrix printers will not produce print as black or as high a quality as a laser printer, for example.
Perhaps the ink ribbons you are using have a less than top quality ink in them, and there is a bit of "bleeding" going on - it can only be the ribbon.
Another thing you can experiment with to get the best print quality is the print head gap - there will (should) be an adjustment, and getting that right will make a difference to print quality.
Hope this helps you.

Ribbon installation

I searched this online, and have found the following instructions:

1) Set the power switch to OFF
2) Remove the printer cover
3) Remove the ink roller by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it upward.
4) Install the correct color new ink roller and press it in the correct position. Make sure that the ink roller is securely in place.
5) Put back the printer cover.

PRINT COLOR

Hi...it appears that the ribbon is on upside down..The black has to be on the top and the red on the bottom. Just switch spools and turn the ribbon over..either that or there is a spring off the ribbon platform solenoid on the right side of the printer just below where the ribbon comes off the spool. If the spring is off or broken the ribbon platform will rise too high and print in red. Remotely the solenoid (little blue thing) could be bad or out of adjustment.
Hope this helps..this is usually all it can be.
