Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

Open Question

Whirlpool Duet Steam wont high speed spin

Clothes come out wet, machine won't go into high speed spin. I checked the filter and cleaned it, no change. I ran diagnostic mode, it goes into high speed spin at C08 but there are no error codes. There does not appear to be a balance problem. Motor tachometer resistance is 114.8 ohm. I have aprox 5 volts on the outer two wires going from the CCU to the MCU. I cannot figure out how the CCU tells the MCU what speed to run.

SOURCE: 3 year old Whirlpool Duet - F07 error showing up

No do the following:

  • Check wire harness connections between the Drive Motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check the MCU
  • Check the Drive Motor
  • Check the Wire Harness
If the wiring is definitely OK and the drive motor is OK then the MCU is most likely to be the culprit.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet F06 Code- Intermittent Failure

The error is an indication a motor speed problem. You will need to check the following:

- Check the wiring harness. Verify all connections between the Drive Motor, Motor Control Unit (MCU), and Central Control Unit (CCU).

NOTE: The MCU is a circuit board located in the vicinity of the Drive Motor on the bottom rear of the washer. To access the MCU, you will need to remove the back panel of the washer.

NOTE: The CCU is the main computer for the washer and is located behind the wash tub. You will need to remove the top panel to access the CCU. This is accomplished by removing the three screws in the back of the washer that hold the top in place. Once the screws are removed, the top panel will slide back, then lift off.

- Check the Drive Motor. Perform a continuity check of the Drive Motor windings. Remove the connector plug and check across pins 1 to 2, 2 to 3, and 1 to 3. All readings should be approximately 6 ohms. HINT: You can also take this reading by removing connector 2 from the MCU and measuring across pins 1, 2 and 3. If the readings are good, this will also prove the wiring and connector good.

- Check the MCU. The connectors are numbered 1 to 3 (L to R). That is, with the MCU installed, connector 1 is on the bottom, followed by 2 in the middle, and 3 on top.

Connector 1 - is the serial communications link between the MCU and CCU and has three wires. At the opposite end, this will be the 2nd connector from the rear on the left-hand side of the CCU.
Connector 2 - is the link between the MCU and the Drive Motor. Pins 1, 2, and 3 on this connector are the Drive Motor windings. Pins 4 and 5 are for the tachometer.
Connector 3 - is the primary power connector. Pins 1 to 2 should read 120VAC with the door in the locked position. Pin 3 is ground. At the opposite end, this is the 4th connector from the right on the front of the CCU.

NOTE: All the connector pins are numbered R to L.

If your continuity readings are normal for the Drive Motor and you have verified all connectors, replace the MCU.

If any of the Drive Motor windings indicate readings higher that 6 ohms, replace the Drive Motor.

Whirlpool duet fw95hedco washer won't spin at max speed & leaves all clothes wet. No error codes during tech diagnostic visit. Washer only 18 months old.

Possible Defective washer transmission. Do you overload the washer with heavy items like towels or blue jeans very often? That can cause early failure.

Whirlpool Duet checked filter removed gunk. Struggle to spin and clothes are still wet.

Possible worn motor? How old is the machine? Is it overloaded? Try lighter loads. Try to spin with the machine empty to test the motor.

What will cause my Whirlpool washing machine to set on low speed spin cycle?

The machine uses automatic load sensors to balance the load and when you put something in the machine that is big, like a comforter, it knows that it cannot balance that item. So with a front loader it wont spin at high speed because it would be off balance and either damage the machine or the machine would "walk" because of the off balance motion.

My whirlpool duet will go through full wash cycle and when it get to rinse it does full rinse but light for spin does not go on and it doesn't spin it stays in spin cycle (no light on) but it does not...

Hi

This issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

I have a whirlpool duet washer & the clothes will not spin out the water when the washer is done they are still soaking wet?

possible that with the machine not draining, its not going to high speed spin try this:

you can access the drain pump assy by removing the 3 screws across the bottom of front panel, after that youll see the drain pump directly in front of you, youll need to unscrew t he filter cap form the "button trap"assmebly, this is what catches all the junk left in pockets, or the baby socks, so they dont make itr into the puppmp itself. be warned there will be water wanting to come out after unscrewing the cap. ALOT depending on amount of water in machine!!!!!!

Duet Washer, clothes dripping wet

set it for a drain/spin cycle and watch it 12 min. doesit sound like the pump is kicking on???? if so is it removing water??? (you should hear it or see it exiting out hte drain hose.) next is it actually spinning at full speed by min 7 in the display it should start ramping up to the final full rpm spins, usually faults out if there a problem with unit itself, otherwise its a user end issue. you ARE usinf HE detergent right? not just a little less of regular soap! although it sounds good HE detergent actually designed for yuse qith the frontloading products, too much suds causes , no hide speed spin aas well as a SUD in the display
