42 inch Philips buzzing in back and no power on

The TV still uses power when it is off. You need a small amount of power for the remote to work. The power supply is on even when the TV is off. The buzzing is not normal and could indicate a future failure in the power supply.

Power supply buzzes when power turned on

Sounds like the power supply is bad or under powered for your setup. Have a friend test it in a known working system or try a known working power supply in yours. Had this happen in a old power supply on a newer board. The power supply was good, just not powerful enough.

A buzz in the sound can come from having your audio cables to close to the power cords. Or a problem with the cable box. A problem with the Ac power supply like a bad input filter can cause a buzz. If it changes when you turn the volume up and down it is not power supply. Hope some of this helps.. It is hard to be sure without hearing it

Subwoofer Emits a Buzzing Tone

The 2200 uF capacitor in the power supply has gone bad and the humming is a 60 Hz from the rectification of AC to 18 vDC.  Either get a new power supply or take apart the power supply and replace the bad cap.

Buzzing/humming noise in my computer's power supply

I wouldn't recommend leaving your PC on all the time but don't think this should have harmed your new power supply. The power supply may be faulty so try speaking to the store you bought it in to try another one. Alternatively, I would try moving your PC to a very well ventilated area at your desk to see if this helps.
