Xerox Colorqube Tray 1 paper alert.. can this be disabled?

We have quite a few ColorQube 8900s in the field and many of our end users are confused by the alert that shows "Tray 1 is empty. User intervention is required to add paper to the tray. Print service can continue if the correct paper is available in other paper trays." I realize that the last line says it all but in the interest of simplicity, I was hoping to disable the alert all together. Is there a way to disable the tray 1 paper alert through settings or through physical manipulation? My thought was that you could disable the "tray 1 sensor" -- that which tells the printer that tray 1 exists -- and it would no longer alert the user. Is anyone familiar with either fix for this?

From the start menue to printers and faxes go to your printer right click and select properties label the 4 drawers as to paper type and select continue, or auto continue to off.

Make Sure the Paper Trays Are Configured With the Correct Paper Size, Type, and Color

To configure settings for Paper Trays 1 and 2
  1. Open the paper tray.
  2. Make sure that the required paper stock is loaded in the paper tray, and that the paper edge guides are adjusted properly to fit the size of the paper.
  3. Close the paper tray. The Printer Settings screen will be displayed on the Touch Screen.
  4. Select [Size], and then select the size of paper loaded in the tray. If this is a standard size paper, the correct size will be selected automatically if the paper guides are adjusted correctly. If necessary, select [Custom] to enter the paper size if the required size is not displayed and then enter the required X and Y values.

93,984 means: Cyan obstructed, reservoir not filled
• Check for ink spills around the Printhead.
• Check the Ink Loader for bent melt tips.
• Check the Ink Loader power cable misrouting around melt tips.
• Check height of ink levels in the head reservoir.

Reset maintenance kit on a xerox colorqube 8570?


There is no "reset", except to replace the Maintenance Kit. That will reset the life back to 100%

If it's brand new send it back to the store. It seems to be a faulty item, which would be covered under the manufacturer's warranty/

Does not detect tray


Look inside the machine, down the back of the paper tray, can you see any sensors that could detect if the tray has been installed.
Has there been any external damage to your paper tray, does the paper lift when you turn the paper lift gear by hand.
Try those points first.
