Question about Xerox ColorQube 8900X

Open Question

How to disable tray 1 via settings or physical fix?

My company has lots of these printers out in the field and many of the end users are confused when it tells them that tray 1 is out of paper. The message does indicate that the print jobs will continue so long as the correct paper is found in another tray, however, we are looking to remove that alert all together. You can configure certain alerts but it doesn't seem as though you can configure the tray 1 alert. My thought was that maybe if you physically disconnected the "tray 1 sensor" -- that which tells the printer that tray 1 even exists -- that it would stop displaying the alert. Any thoughts or has anyone else seen or heard of a solution?

SOURCE: [No Paper] error

take out the paper tray and look inside. You will see a feed tire about 4 inches in, on the upper frame over where the paper stack would be. Right behind that feed tire, there should be a black hook shaped actuator that contacts the paper stack when you put the tray in. It is about 3 inches long.
Either that is knocked off or the sensor popped out of its slots.
The board could be bad, but that is very unlikely.
95 percent of the time that actuator is knocked off or the sensoe is out of place.
If you cant find the actuator, if that is the problem, you can slip a piece of tape , not scotch tape, some type of tape you cant see through, into the channel of that sensor. the only difference you would notice is you would not get an out of paper message but a jam when you ran out of paper.

SOURCE: envolpe feed problem

I would first off try cleaning the feed roll in that tray well. That really sounds like slipping.
Go through all your programs and make sure that the driver machine and program you are running has the envelope settings the same.
Be sure they all match. Example. Make sure all the programs you are running through, have the settings for # 10 envelope, consistancy is needed for running envelopes. They are problematic.

SOURCE: Xerox Phaser 8400 Error code 07,010.43:99907

You manually rotated the aluminum drum? Since you did that, I would suspect you have the print head wiper blade stuck between the drum and print head. The code you are getting it caused by the print head not being able to move freely.
The jamming is probably due to a bad registration clutch. Common failure on that machine.
You can go to, there is under documentation and drivers a parts list for that machine. You can reference the wiper blade and get the clutch part number there.
Let me know what other information you may need. I will be glad to help you get it running again.

SOURCE: Printing from wrong tray

I suffered from the same problem for a long time. We got Xerox Phaser 8550 and 8560 here. I choose on computer "tray 2" but the printer just print from tray 1 which is empty.

Today i figured it out! It's some configuration at the printer. So go to "Paper tray setp" -> "Tray 1 mode" and "Tray 2 mode" -> change to "static".

I figure it's like this. Before it was "dynamic", it probably means the printer decides it's better to use tray 1 even though you choose tray 2 - and this decision is stupid. Changing it to "static" fixes this.

Let me know whether this works for you too!

Error 025

025 means that you have a string length outside the range. It is somewhat of a generic error. Look inside your data stream and see if you are providing more data in a field than you should. Example would be in your Format you have designated 12 characters for a field, and you provided 13 or more in the Batch record.

Since this error is different from user to user, the generic answer works for all users with this issue, but the specific flag is different. I've seen it for description fields, barcode fields, and various other data fields where a quantity of characters is expected to be used, but a quantity + or - 1 or more of those characters sets off this error.

If you could post a copy of your datastream, I may even be able to diagnose it. The Format portion of the datastream starts with something like {F,1,A,R,E... and ends with a }. Then there is the batch record with starts with something like {B,1,.... and ends with a } I would like to see all data from the frist { to the last } to be more helpful if you're not able to find it from this.

Can i disable try 1 on this printer

Usually the paper source is set to Auto in Printing Preferences so if you put paper in manual tray it will feed from manual tray and will override the tray 1 selection. If you specifically want to change it to a tray disabling tray 1 you can do so if you go into Control Panel, Printer and right click on the printer and select Printing Preferences and then on Paper menu change the paper source.

I have HP laser jet 4350dtn heavy duty printer. It is attached with thye network point. And the configuration is done on the server. Then for the client machines I install via from the server since it is...

1 of 2 things. Either the paper type and size is not set right in the printer menu for tray 2. or the physical setting in the tray are not exactly on letter. The printer is looking for letter paper and does not see it in tray 2. If you load tray 1 with paper and press the green button my guess is it will use that paer and tray. First chack to make sure the setting in the tray are exactly on letter, it uses that and little fingers on the left side to tell the printer there is letter paper in the tray.

My printer will not pull paper from the manual tray. I am trying to print envelopes and postcards from the manual tray. Even when I select manual tray in the "paper source" field it will not pull. I think...

Check the Paper Handling Menu. The Tray 1 size and Tray 1 Type should be set to Any Size. This means that the printer should pull the paper from Tray 1 first when paper is loaded in tray 1

Leave tray 1 empty. Or just pull tray 2 out of the machine (a little bit, for example 5 cm), then it will automatically select tray 1.

Tray 1- load plain letter

On printer check media/paper type tray 2 or 3 is plain and tray 2/3 is set for letter paper size too, via printer control panel. Also check under paper handling other options for tray 1, also on tray 2 and 3, I think there is a blue little round switch on left should be set as letter not custom.

Some paper types cannot be feed from anywhere else but tray1/bypass ie labels/laminate/card stock.

Check print driver on pc has tray 3 option installed and is not set as default to print to manual bypass/tray 1

light flashing cause printer wants paper type/size that it "thinks" it hasn't got in tray 2/3

If that dont cover back
