SOURCE: which wire is the 'ON-PS' switch for the Astec

I found out that the AT supply SA145-3435 does not have a switch wire like an ATX supply. I have a SA145-3435 my self. To get it to work it must have a +5 volt load (BLACK and RED) and a +12 volt load (BLACK and YELLOW). If it does not have both of these loads it will power down after a 2 second delay when you plug it up. I used 2 small 12 volt bulbs. One for the 12 volt line and one for the 5 volt line. The type of blub I used was a #94 I got from the auto parts store.

SOURCE: Hi I try to troubleshoot

DO NOT troubleshoot a power supply unless you are professionally trained. Power supplies contain a lethal charge even when disconnected from a power source and should never be opened or tampered with. If you are having a problem with building/upgrading a PC and are using this power supply, then please post further details on your problem here and maybe we can help.

Astec AA23080

You have to "short" two of the sockets.
Get the CORRECT two, or else you could kill yourself, or "fry" the power-supply.
Details: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/insidethepc/a/atx-pinout-24-pin-12v-psu.htm about the "pin-out" arrangement.

It would be easier/safer to connect the sockets to a motherboard, and connect a power-switch to the ON/OFF pins on the motherboard, and then use that power-switch.

Got a astec sa302-3505 power supply . . . need to know how do you add a switch to turn it on if its not connected to the motherboard

Simple, Just connect a switch to Green wire and one of black wire.
When the green wire got connected with negative (Black wires are negative) the SMPS Fan starts which is also a visual feedback to you that SMPS starts.

I need an ASTEC power supply model SA147-3506 for IBM P-2 computer, Can anybody help me??!!

145 Watt power supply with the old style AT motherboard power cable connectors. (2 Each)

http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#oldpc

I just put Astec SA147-3506 in my browser search bar, and came up with a number of search hits. Prices ranged from $50 to $170!

And it's a 145 Watt power supply! Astec is a cheap quality power supply manufacturer, to boot!

You know, there is a way to use a newer reliable power supply, and the AT power supply motherboard connectors, off of the power supply you have.

It's not for the squeamish, but can be done.

The power wires are removed from the ATX power supply motherboard cable connector, of the new power supply, and inserted into the AT power supply connectors.
(ATX 12V power supply is the newer one. AT power wires removed from the P8, and P9 connectors of your old power supply)

Interested?

Replacing powerman fsp300-60gt with astec atx93-3405 115/230 power supply units

The power supply doesn't need to be mounted to anything. It's self contained. The replacement doesn't have enough juice:
Sparkle FSP300-60GT = 300w
atx93-3405 = 90w
No way is the Astec going to run that PC. In fact, there are very few that it will.
You will have to get a 300w or higher power supply for this to work.
