My Toshiba Satellite A135 starts to power up but a few seconds later I can hear the hard drive stop and nothing else happens. The hard drive indicator light blinks once or twice then nothing. The yellow light on my CDRom stays lit solid yellow. It worked just fine but the next time I turned it on the problem started. Thanks in advance for any help.

U have to try to format it..

Reason is u are infected and if u format it the virus will not remove it will be in SYSTEM BACK UP MEMORY and when u format automaticlly on WELCOMEN SCREEN u are infected..The best for u is if u put ur hdd in another laptop as external and format it with CMD.When u are done put it back to ur pc and format it with original winxp!!!

If u still have a problem just contact me!!!

it could have failed, but its more likely you have sequential procedures for the power button, like holding it down for more than 5 seconds etc--you might have just put your machine into "standby mode"--check manufacturers site for power key process--good luck!

Hi, I re-installed the hard drive on this laptop (Toshiba Satellite M45-S169), but the hard drive is unresponsive. Not sure if I installed correctly, or the hard drive is dead. The power light comes on,...

If drive not spinning, definitely dead. If spins and not recognized by laptop cmos, the logic board on drive is toast.
Afraid that you have a nice cute paperweight.

The FAT has been corrupted. Try running Fdisk/f on the drive.

My laptop won't start... please

Not sure but it sounds like the hard drive is causing the problem. Lap tops are set up so that any problems with them they shut down, and a bad hard drive will shut you down the way you are describing. The only test i know for this is to remove the hard drive and see if you can get the computer to at least boot. If you can with no hard drive then it usually means the drive has failed. Not sure if this will help, but hope it helps.

I have a toshiba satellite laptop the screen is black

Shutting the computer down could be done by holding the Power Switch down for 10 seconds, rather than unplug/no battery "solution". A blank screen is more often than not caused by the failure of the screen's backlight. Plugging an external monitor in the ext monitor port would verify the computer still works, and I am sure it does.

Toshiba Satellite: A135-S4427 / Won't shut down

Hi,
by pressing the power button in, the computer has gone into standby or hibernate mode.
Heres what you Do:- press and hold the power button for between 10 to 20 seconds.
that should bring it out of hibernation.
if that does,nt work. remove the main battery.
when you,ve resolved the problem, run a disk-scan via your windows operating system.
