Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Photo colors are all green and yellow

Have replaced with all new cartridges, cleaned, etc.  Before replacing cartridges, all photos had correct colors but had vertical black lines; now lines gone but looks like only using yellow and green colors, and they are pale and dull.  What do you suggest?

My Epson stylus Photo R220 has 4 new color cartridges that does not print in color prints. Have tried cleaning head etc. What else can I do?

Hello, In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. That sounds like your problem. Also in Purchasing the Brother's . Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, etc. These printers have a chip, that will detect if it is Generic or Genunie. When Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, but you have to fill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for the PRINTERS. I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

I can't produce green colors. I have cleaned the printer head with no impovement. Can this part be replaced? How would I know if the problem is electrical and not physical? Peter

I assume by cleaning you mean pressure FLUSHING the ink channel with cleaner, not just wiping the head. You have to charge the ink channel after flushing to prime it.

The cost of a replacement part probably makes it un-economical to do a replacement.

Testing for electrical problem without schematics would be hard.

Do check that the flex carriage cable connection is good.

Color on photos suddenly has a blue - purple wash with no greens

Your yellow cartridge is probably not working as your photos suggest. Remove and reinsert the yellow cartridge. Try printing only yellow color.
Your printer has a separate head for printing; the nozzle for yellow ink might be clogged. Try running a head cleaning routine from your printer software.

Replaced Yellow cartridge. Photos came out

Clean all cartridges to make sure ink is flowing. To do this put windoww cleaner ino a container about ten mm deep. Put the cartridges with the end where the ink comes out facing down into the container and soak for about ten minutes. After this dry off for with a paper towell and make sur each cartridge leaks color into the towell. may take a little shaking.

Horizontal colored lines through grayscale printed photos

Hi George,

It sound's like an ink-feed issue:

1) Dirty heads, even after cleaning
2) No-ink or poor quality ink
3) Damaged head: some are part of the cartridge, some are not
4) Air bubbles in ink

The test page is typically not as hi-res nor as saturated as a
photo print. The hi-res photo puts the greatest demand on the print head.

The color lines you see are actually lines of missing color,
where the head has failed to deposit ink, so one or two primary
colors are missing from the complete picture.

For example missing yellow will make a blue line.
Missing magenta will make a green line
Missing cyan will make a red line.... etc..

Clean the heads again and again, print again and again,
hoping to flush the system.

BUT, keep in mind that cleaning wastes huge amounts of
ink and tiny little cartridges of ink cost more than many new printers.

Incorrect color prints on photos

Sounds like your printer is malfunctioning and has a problem. First I would delete this printer then reboot your computer and reinstall it and try again. If no success printer needs to go to shop or replace it.
