The touchpad's left button is not working. the pointer works fine and so does the right click. I tried tapping on the on/off button on hte upper left side of the pad, reinstalling the drivers and made sure the synaptic pad was selected in the control panel but none of it works.

Sub out the ram one at a time, if luck is there unit will start, second option is remove the main battery often loads the system down.

You should replace the keyboard. Either bring it in to a PC shop, or buy a replacement keyboard yourself and follow these instructions:

try to re configure BIOS setting the touchpad might turn off at bios configuration
