Noma Snowthrower D2450010 auger doesnt stop spinning when disengaged

I have a Noma D2450010 5hp Snow thrower. I replaced the V belt and noticed that the auger doesn't stop spinning when its disengaged. I noticed that there is an arm underneath the belt that is just laying there basically doing nothing. There is nothing attached to it, so it seems it doesn't serve a purpose. When I look at the parts diagram on the sears website, the part looks to be The Brake Arm Rod. Could this be my problem. It also looks like there maybe should be a TENSION spring attached to this, which like I said thaere is nothing on mine right now.The only stopping the belt right now are the two belt fingers. Can you tell me how to fix this and also should the Vbelt be under this arm or over it

SOURCE: i have tension spring that is disconected inside a toro 824 snowb

That spring will attach itself to just about anything available. So put some hand tension on the idler pulley of the tensioner, and make an arc with the end of the spring, and there should a tab or bolt or post that the spring could attach to.

Noma auger wont stop spinning when disengaged

Sounds like either the auger belt is jammed to tight or handle mechanism to engage/disengage is stuck in on position. I would remove belt cover to inspect auger belt and pulley first, then remove bottom cover and inspect auger engage apparatus. I think once you inspect the problem will be self explanatory. Good luck!

Figure 9 on Page 11 of the manual (linked below) shows the location of the auger shear pins. Do NOT substitute bolts for shear pins!

CRAFTSMAN SNOW THROWER DRIVE WHEELS WILL NOT MOVE - RAISE REAR UP AND WHEELS DO - AUGER WORKS IT JUST WON'T MOVE

well if it is a walk behind style it could be the drive is out of adjustment, also craftsman were famous for the cable mounts bending and that will throw them out of adjustment. follow the traction drive linkage down to the base of the blowe and there should be an adjustment, or it will be under the belt gaurd or even on the handle on some.

Snow thrower won't throw snow

the problem could be the snow is to heavy for the motor to keep up, if thats the case you may need to upgrade to a more powerful model or try not to overload it. take it a little slower so the motor can keep up. but try tightening the belt. with your pointer finger push down on the belt it should have about a half inch give, if it moves more than that its too loose and probably slipping under load
