Question about Brother MFC 210C All-In-One InkJet Printer
I posted earlier with a problem with my printer, and now that I tried what they said my "Photo capture" "Copy" "Fax" and "Scan" buttons are all flashing, and the display is showing "Machine error 31". Hopefully someone can assist me in trying to solve this problem. Thanks again.
Press 9 then 9 to leave the maintenance mode.
Did you had a paperjam the days before? The error 31 indicates that there are obstacles on the pathway of the printhead. Another reason could be that the encoder strip might be stained with ink.
See here how to open the printer cover:
(it s german)
Have a control check if there are paper pieces or something else on the pathway of the printhead. Check the encoder strip (the foil parallel to the path way): Is it clear or is there some ink on it? If yes, try to clean the encoder strip with water.
Leave the cover open and reconnect the flatcable and the cables back to the main pcb. The scanner on the left hand side upright to the open printer (looks like this: I__ )and power up machine. Watch the printhead travel from right to left. Does it stuck somewhere?
Reassemble the printer afterwards.
When you dont get the printer back to work, there could be some more serious. you cant fix that by yourself, because you need some spareparts which are more costly than a new mfc!
