SOURCE: sewing with walking foot

Take the needle out and run the machine for a while with the walking foot fitted. Refit the needle and try again but only turn the machine over by hand to see if the problem has cleared. If no luck it sounds like the walking foot timing needs adjusting.

SOURCE: janoneDc3018 thread bunches up .

Are you using heavy thread for the top stitching? If so you will need to tighten the top tension. You would think if it is thicker thread that you would need to loosen the top tension but you have to tighten it to help pull it up through the fabric. If you use heavy thread in the bobbin you would have to loosen the bobbin tension. Check and make sure the thread is seated in the top tension and make sure there is no lint in the tension disc. It is definitely a tension issue. Hope this helps.

i think you have something catch on the tension guides. Try to clean out anything you can see and pull a thread towards the needle. I have done this with a small knot to snare anything but be gentle. Also, rethread carefully.
Try cleaning the bobbin case too

SOURCE: The first needle thread keeps breaking as it is

could the tension be adjusted to tightly
is thread feeding off cone/spool freely
also check to see if there are any burrs on the loopers or on the throat plate
here's a tip I learned from a needle & thread expert about needle & thread compatability

Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

Why is my brother ls2160 is sewing fine on cotton but not on the material I am using. Its a stretchy silky kind of material. What am i doing wrong?

You may need to use a walking foot with your machine as stretchy fabrics are hard for the feed dogs to 'grip' and pull the material through under the needle.... you will probably need to change needle as well... there should be a helpful video on YouTube that will tell u all about sewing with stretchy fabrics and how a 'walking foot' works... hope that helps.

I DID THE SAME THING WITH STICK ON VELCRO. WHEN THE NEEDLE STUCK IN THE ADHESIVE IT PULLED THE PART BELOW THE BOBBIN HOLDER OUT AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. PRICEY REPAIR AND LESSON LEARNED.

Thread breaks when trying to sew velcro (with sticky back substance) on rayon material. e

Use a larger diameter needle and sew at half the speed also, find Velcro without the sticky backing. that will ruin your machines lower thread paths (Bobbin case and hook areas) and cause more issues when you are done with the Velcro sewing.

Needle hitting the shuttle

since you were sewing harder material it's possible that the
machine jumped time & needs to be checked at a sewing machine
shop
but try putting in a new needle first
if it still is hitting the shuttle then it needs to be checked.

I am trying to sew velcroe on some pillows and the bobbin thread keeps bunching up underneath the fabric and making jerky sounds...heellpp!

do not use self adhesive velcro........ the glue jams the cotton.
use the plain sew on velcro.

use a largr size needle as well.

Will not pick up bobbin thread. problem begin after sewing sticky velcro to material. needle started hitting on botton of bobbin area. i adjusted needle bar but it still will not sew.

I would try cleaning the area with some alcohal on a cotton swab and change needle. You may have caused a problem with your timing, I hope not because you will need it to be set again by your authorized center. I know there are directions on the internet but I would rather make sure that it is done right, and knock out your warranty. You have a nice machine.

Thead keeps pulling out of needle

There are a couple of things to check, first of all check that your needle is installed correctly. Thread breaking will happen if the needle is a little off or installed backwards, or even if it may be the teenest bit bent. Best bet is to put in a new needle and make sure the groved side of the needle is towards the back of the machine.
A misaligned needle can also throw the tension out, so once you are sure about the needle you will have to adjust the tension following your machines instructions.

Hello,

Although you already re-theaded and cleaned your machine, re-check this:

- Un-thread your machine and remove your bobbin. Clean any loose thread or lint out of your bobbin case. Re-thread your machine, reinsert and rethread your bobbin.

If that doesn't work, try this:

- Change your bobbin. There could be a nick along the edge of your bobbin spool that’s catching your thread as you sew.

- Raise your feed dogs if your machine has this feature.

Note:
when you start to sew a seam, hold the upper and bobbin thread tails. Hold them back and out of the way as you sew your first couple of stitches. This will keep them from getting caught in your machine.

Hope this helps.
