OSD (On Screen Display) lockout. To resolve the issue you can hold the power button of the monitor until you get another message something similar to "OSD unlocked"
try holding menu button also if it doesnt workout

Annihilata, I don't think that is the problem. I stumbled across this page while looking for a solution to the same problem. My monitor is set to the native resolution of 1600x900, yet the picture is distorted. It is particularly noticeable with small type, which appears compressed in some areas and stretched in others. I have tried updating and reinstalling the drivers with no success. Then, miraculously the problem seemed to fix itself one day between when I logged off and my GF logged in. Everything remained in the proper proportion for a day, and then as mysteriously as the problem had fixed itself it occured again. The display settings have remained constant the entire time.

Sounds like you may have another problem, that's blowing your monitors, apparently something is shorting your system.
I surly hope you are running through a good quality surge suppressor.
Don't spare any expense on your surge suppressor.
A back up power supply is recommend if yu are subject to occasional blackouts.

A professional TV/video repair-person knows how to open it, how to order the correct replacement part, and how to reassemble and test it. This is not a "do-it-self" repair, like changing batteries in a flash-light.
for parts information.
