I too have the same problem...Searched and waited long time for parts. I have replaced everything and the thing still flashes and goes blank but has sound. Not worth anymore stress. My neighbor is an electrical engineer who I used to think can fix anything. He too is baffled. My fix suggestion... Getting a new LCD (not a Sceptre) tonight...with an extended warranty...Sceptre (and their tech's) no help if you don't have a warranty. I learned my lesson!

yes my friend check the capacitors in the power supply. some techs call them pregnant capacitors
open the set carefully and check the power supply.always remember to unplug the set before you do anything.

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
IF you see no light on the screen at all no menu . message at all.
The invertor or screen may be at fault.
The only easy repair short of replacing a board is checking/replacing swollen capacitors on the power board

You may be able to repair the board instead of buying a replacement board. If you are up to a little soldering it may save you a good bit of money for the repair. If you are interested just take a few pictures of the boards and email them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org We will check them out and give you some pointers on what to do. Most power supply issues with the blinking power lights are caused by blow capacitors on the power board. These are fairly easy to replace and the replacements are less than $20 usually. To get an idea what capacitors are and what will need to be do to repair you unit check out our pages at :http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/ You may want to look over the repair guides for other units we have posted too. If you need parts we can also supply them for you. If you have any additional questions just contact us at: email@example.com
I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

It can be the power supply is unstable due to bad DC filter caps, or it is sensing short circuits caused by backlight board, you will have to take it apart and start by visual inspection first, look for bad caps iwth leaking/bulging tops (caps can look OK but can have high ESR). Then you need to do voltages checking.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:
