They are most likely jammed under the agitator, or IN it, if it has a 2 piece structure as many of them do. They should not harm the machine, and new socks are cheaper than a service call.

Testimonial: "Is there no way to remove the agitator ourselves? The washer model is LSR6232JQ0. The sox are vintage doll clothes; I'd like to get them if it is possible to do... Thank you!"

The agitator is secured by a hex head bolt (7/16" is the most common size) down in the middle of the centre stem. To get at this you need to remove a few bits from the stem. This video is not for your model (I think your agitator is a one piece, not 2 as in the video) but it will show you the general procedure in lifting out the agitator and looking underneath and inside. You will not need to try all the disassembly shown in the video.

Also this interesting post in Fixya. If the socks are between the inner and outer basket you will need a service tech :http://www.fixya.com/support/t7097311-sm...

SOURCE: dirty sock smell

My suggestion is to contact Maytag. I have the same problem. Maytag can tell you what you can do to reduce the odor. I think the problem originates from the fact that the drum always has water in it and the rubber seal has a bad smell.

SOURCE: Our Whirlpool washer won't drain

this machine has the pump directly atached to the pump assy, so if the motor is runnning your pump will drain water. more likely is that when you put the unit back together perhaps you didnt plug the lid switch assembly bak in. if there is no lid switch detected the unit will not drain or spin and when it gets to that mode it will simply stall out. no noise or anything. will fill, agitate but not spin and/or drain/ check the lid switch!

SOURCE: My Estate washer will not drain.

Hey Don, If you removed the cabinet to get to your pump, you had to unplug the wire that connects to your lid switch. Did you make sure to plug the lid switch plug back into it's plug-in on top of your cabinet under control panel when you re-installed the cabinet. Your washer won't spin or pump water if this is the case. I'd check that first, then check the lid switch itself for proper operation. Happy to help, Tim. please don't forget to rate my help. Thanks.

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model FRONT LOADERS displaying the “F02” error code.

“F02” is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a “SUDS” error may also be generated as a secondary error. This is an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

  1. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
  2. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
  3. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.
To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump.

May be more socks stuck again. Best thing to do is check the filter once a week if it's on the outside of the machine. The ones that are not easily accessed usually don't get touched till a problem arises so to stop small items disappearing and ending up in the filters get a small net bag that has a good form of closing it to put the small items in and then stick the bag in the wash.

My front loader washer had a sock inside the hose and the water backed up , and water was everywhere. is this common

It happens with many brands. Coins are commonly found in the pump traps in most washers. I don't know if LG washers are more prone to eating socks, but if you try Google with 'lg washer sock', you will see that you are definitely not alone.

I hope it doesn't happen again.

Good luck from Detroit, MI, USA.

Baby sock caught under agitator

funny thing is the two most common things to block a water pump hose are a small coin and a babys sock yet your the first person ive seen belive it to be a sock. yet as i said that will only block the drain hose to the water pump if the washer is pumping out water then its not that if it is that the bin! wont spin you have other problems it could be a loose belt the gear box or the main motor has simply strarted to give out a small sock wont stop it from spinning

hope it helps some

My Whrilpool Duet keeps "eating socks", I have to take the cover off, unscrew the drain trap and pull out yucky, smelly socks!

Hi,

That is a common problem with the Whirpool duets. Small clothing articles, especially baby socks go through the drum lip to the drain pipe.

Best to buy a zip-up laundry bag and place all the small clothing items in there.

Best Regards
Ash

Just take off the bottom kickplate (3 screws on the bottom). You'll see the pump front and center. Twist the front face of the pum slowly to the left. All the trapped water will flow right out towards you. There could be a sock or some other debris there. Unclog, screw that faceplate back in and start it up.
