Cannot change the stitch length on this machine.

See the suggested answers for your question. If it is a mechanical machine, the oil has probably solidified and is not allowing you to change the stitch length selector.

Something you might try is opening the machine and directing hot air from a handheld hairdryer into the internal mechanism concentrating on the location of the stitch length selector. This may help loosen it up.

Consult your owner's manual and follow the instructions for cleaning and oiling your machine. Use ONLY fresh good quality sewing machine oil and apply only 1-2 drops each spot.

"Doesn't stitch right" doesn't help us diagnose your problem. What exactly is it doing? Loops on top? loops on bottom? skipping stitches? What?

My Fashion Mate 6160 beeped and stopped sewing & automatic threader doesnt work

if the machine still sews a straight stitch on top of fabric & also on bottom then it should be fine..
it's possible that the thick fabric, needle, & thread were not a compatable combination.
but also some sewing machine are not made to sew thick or heavy
but having the machine serviced would be a good idea & help to know why the needle thread is not working

My Viking Designer 1 wont stitch the Omnigrid stitches (S on the menu) properly. It seems like one side of the design stitches OK, then the other side doesnt line up with the first part. Is there any...

Yes there is. Go to the SET menu and look at the Balance icon. There is a plus and minus choice. By trial and error (only click once or twice at a time) you can adjust how the Omnimotion stitches sew out. You should always use a stabiliser underneath when you are doing these stitches - it helps a lot! There is an excellent and not expensive booklet available through Secrets of Embroidery website and written by Carolyn Duncan that deals exclusively with Omnimotion stitching. She prefers to program these stitches and use her embroidery hoop, but gives good advice on how to sew them directly at the machine.

I am new at sewing, my machine is sewing small stitches and then larger stitches, I need it to just sew small sitches

Check to make sure the stitch length gauge isn't loose allowing it to jump between longer & shorter stitches, or that it isn't set on variable stitching. Something that could create this too is if you're holding the fabric too tightly so that the fabric feed doesn't pull the fabric through smoothly & easily - allow the machine to pull the fabric through on it's own and control the speed with your footfeed, not your hands. Hope this helps! Have a good time!

Error 2 message

This error means you have the buttonhole lever down while not sewing the buttonhole stitch. The lever is located next to the presser foot, it's white. Just push it back up. If this isn't what's going on, then your machine thinks that's what's going on and it needs to be reprogrammed.

for future reference, check the manual. If you don't have yours anymore go to and search brothe cs100t and register for free and download the manual
